completed week 6

so I completed week 6 of 25 mins with the slowest jog ever. I have a routine of running on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with the weekends off. My body is absolutely aching. I just had. Sneaky peek at what wk 7 brings, only to find out that it’s 25 mins again. I don’t know if I can do that 😱

Congratulations on completing week 6, Mezzysu !

I noticed that your running routine doesn't have a rest day between your Wednesday and Thursday runs. Maybe that's where your achiness comes from? The few times I had to run on two consecutive days because of my schedule, I noticed that it was much harder. Would it be possible for you to run Fridays or Saturdays instead? Or at least mornings on Wednesdays and evenings on Thursdays...

Enjoy your recovery - and then you can totally tackle week 7!

I made a typo error. I run on Fridays instead of Thursdays. I have one days rest in between and I sooooo need it.

Good for you! Then the other thing to check would be your speed... As Tim (aka iannoda truffe, though his posts seem to be from "hidden" now) kept reminding so many of us, we need to be able to converse. You can read more about that, if you think that might help you, here: healthunlocked.com/couchto5... (search for "conversation")

Congratulations on completing week 6But please do not run on consecutive days !

We would not advise running on consecutive days until you have had around 12 months of regular running!

Otherwise you are leaving yourself open to overuse injuries that can come out of the blue and stop you in your tracks for days, weeks or even months.

Far better to miss a run than risking injury.

Take care

I made a mistake in my typing and was meant to say Monday, Wednesday and Fridays with the weekends off. I can’t seem to edit my post.

Hi Mezzysu , I can reassure you that you are capable of doing th week 7 runs! However, if you're really tired and achy, why not take more than one rest day ? It's perfectly acceptable, and from what you say it'd be a good idea.

There's no obligation to run on set days, though of course other aspects of your life might dictate that. You can have two or three days off between runs if you need to, and spread C25K over longer than nine weeks.

Also, as mentioned in replied to your previous posts, proper hydration and stretching are important. I take it you've now got that sorted, but if not, I think you'll find it'll help a lot.

Hang on in there - you can do this!

You have built the strength and stamina to be able to run next week's runs, just slow down a bit and the time will fly past

Of course you can do it Mezzysu , after all you’ve done it once already! And please don’t worry about being slow. It’s not a race and as Iannoda Truffe always used to tell us, we should be running at an ‘easy conversational pace’. I am probably the world’s slowest runner but it doesn’t matter - as long as I’m running/jogging , that’s enough for me! You can do this - if the thought of a whole block of 25 minutes worries you, break it down into smaller blocks of, say, 5 minutes and just tick them off as you go. Keep it slow and you’ll be fine!

Well done for getting out there and each time. The thing is it gets easier Mezzysu, it just doesn’t feel like it because every week is a new challenge. trust the programme. You’ll look back at the end and think how did I get here?

But run slowly, the distance doesn’t matter 👍
