Safe recovery after flu

Hello, for the past week I have been suffering from flu, and haven't been able to do any running. I usually run Parkrun and two more runs during a week, so should I return to C2 5k say at week 7 or just try a slow 20 minute run and see how it goes?

TIA.

I’d just go out for a gentle run and see how you get on. That’s what I’ve done post covid. Listen to your body and stop when you feel it’s best to. Building up gradually is better than wiping yourself out after one run. Wait until you’re fully ready rather than feeling bad that you’re not running. Rest and recovery time is frustrating but important. Walking helped me get up and going while I wasn’t ready to run.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. ❤️

Hi Khufu , simply being unable to run for a week or even two won't affect your fitness much. So given what you say about your usual weekly running, I see no reason for you to go back to C25K. I agree with MissUnderstanding - when you feel well enough, just try a gentle, no pressure run and see how you feel. Don't push things, it's better to wait a bit longer than to go out before you're really ready. Get well soon!
