Just over 14 years ago my life was fabulous, I had a great job with people I loved, I had been involved with running huskies since 1998. I organised events, was Chairperson of one organisation, Bred my first litter, took in rescue dogs, was a dog trainer. Then depression and anxiety struck, lost people who I thought were my friends, back stabbing etc was happening behind my back. Then Fibromyalgia struck, epilepsy and a few other illness followed. I am taking so many tablets it is unreal. I thought I was never going to get out of this hell hole.

I got a new pain consultant, and a physio who understands my struggles and with a couple of true friends, they without realising it have given me hope.

So I am walking 100k for Dementia UK with my dogs , just completed day two of week 1 of couch to 5k. I feel fantastic, Sarah is my guide, music playing in the back ground and I feel fab. Let's hope I get to the end, I can get back to running my dogs and hopefully I can actually run one of my dogs at Cani X events, Something I have wanted to do for so long.

Well done for starting your journey!!! 🏃🏃🏃🏃

You're doing it for a great reason, and don't compare anything to the past. Go forward and always run with your next run in mind - if you have a bad run, you're still ending it better than how you started, so your next one will be different 💪

You have already been on a major journey and have overcome many obstacles, so I am sure that C25k will be just another hurdle

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
