I did it! I've quietly persevered and taken note of all the good advice on here about not running too fast and I've finally done it. Still don't really think of myself as a runner though, but at least I know I can jog continuously for 30 minutes 3 times a week! Thank you to everyone for your encouragement, it's really helped.

Week 9 run 3 ๐
Oh my goodness!! if running for 30 minutes doesnโt make you think of yourself as a runner i donโt know what will. Huge congratulations on your graduation, thatโs a huge achievement
Thank you. It really is a matter of mindset isn't it. Perhaps I need more convincing than most, but I'm glad I've made it this far.๐
I went into hospital almost 3 years ago, there they want to find ou your baseline so they can work out how ill you are. My daughter (who is medically trained) sat with me and pointed out I was a runner at every question, I was a bit embarrassed because like you I didnโt see myself as a runner, very slow and not hugely far although I had run 10k by then, when I was better I asked her why and she explained that they needed to know what i could do on a good day to compare what i was at that point, I could barely take myself off to the loo very slowly. but it made me realise that however old however slow, if I could run for half an hour i am a runner and so are you, be proud ๐ฅน
Whatโs the difference between jogging and running? Donโt knock yourself down. Youโre a runner!
Congratulations!!!! Youโve done so well to get here and you need some serious celebrations!
Thank you. I don't know what the actual distance I run is in terms of km, I only know it equates to 9 and a bit times up and down the lane in 30 minutes at a not very fast pace! Never mind, I'm still going to celebrate! Is cake allowed do you think?๐คฃ
Cake is compulsory I would say! ๐ฐ
C25k is a rubbish name for a great programme. Distance is irrelevant. Going at a fast pace is irrelevant. Youโve done it. Thatโs brilliant!
I actually think itโs a good name. It may lack mathematical precision but it attracts people to make a start. Plus, most people who do this programme do run 5k in the end. Maybe not in week 9 and probably not in 30 minutes but if you can run for 30 minutes after 9 weeks, a few weeks more and youโll get to 5k if thatโs what you want to do.
Many congratulations on your graduation, fellow runner.

amazing achievement - well done! ๐๐ป
If youโre getting your trainers on and running three times a week youโre a runner ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ ๐๐ป Enjoy you consolidation runs
Congratulations, Reluctant57 , to becoming a runner! ๐ฅณ
See what I did there ๐ and, yes, you're a runner now! Especially since you're already planning runs (on vacation?) in Spain!
huge congratulations ๐๐ very well done
Now enjoy youf considayionruns x
oh dear fat fingers. Was meant to say enjoy your consolidation runs.
My week 9 is next week so i will be joining you..virtually of course x
Hi reluctant 57. We're on exactly the same path! I'm also 64 and graduated last week! I've been feeling just like you. OK. I can jog for 30 minutes but does that really make me a runner?? However, the support and encouragement from this website has really helped and moreover I have to admit to feeling much fitter than I did in my couch days! ๐ I'm now consolidating my 30 minute runs and am then contemplating trying out a park run. Good luck with your own onward journey and most of all congratulations on graduating! Remember, we could both still be stuck on that couch eating biscuits!!
I did my last 0-5k as my first park run and it was quite hard as I found myself trying to run too fast but then I paced myself with someone running a bit above my own pace and it was really good as I did my first sub 7 minute kilometre. Legs are a little achey but running with others pushed me and was very rewarding.
yes jogging for 30 minutes makes you a runner because jogging is running, and if someone who runs regularly isnโt a runner then what does runner even mean?
Congratulations- I do know what you mean - like you I wasnโt ready to call myself a runner at the end of the program and still donโt really think of myself as a runner as Iโm very slow - but if you enjoy it does it matter! Well done๐๐
delighted for you, Iโm starting week 8, took the dogs for 8km walk yesterday and developed a massive blister so it will have to wait, isnโt it a great program
Well done you! And you are most definitely a Runner with a capital R ๐
Brilliantl, well done. Of course you're a runner and, like me, you might not win any races but we're out there doing it and enjoying it (most of the time). ๐
