Hi everyone I am 5 months post full Achilles rupture which devastated me as I’m a serious high level Vets tennis player(ex-pro) and it destroyed several big targets I had for this year. So I’m finally able to start running (have to do that before I can get back on a tennis court) . Just wondered if there were any other ‘Achilles warriors’ out there who had done this programme as part of rehab?
Thankyou

Welcome...we can't give advice about using C25K re your injury rehab..but we're assuming you have the go ahead from your doctors?Did you have the op...or in plaster ?
Chose conservative management to avoid surgery - week in plaster, 6 weeks in a boot. I was cleared to start jogging last week so just finished first week of C25k - wanted a structured targeted programme to follow. Was just interested to hear if anyone else had done similar following rupture ….
I fully ruptured my Achilles playing hockey in 2015 (aged 45). I spent 5 weeks in plaster and due to complications I spent the next 14 weeks in a boot. It has stopped me playing hockey, badminton and squash. I did however do the C25K programme but not as part of my rehabilitation. I did it about 3 years afterwards. I would check with your doctor/consultant just to be sure.
Yep I was cleared to start jogging etc a couple of weeks ago. I’m nearly 6 months post rupture now and made a great recovery, been playing golf for a couple of months etc and feeling good. But to get back on the tennis court I need to be able to run and also build my calf back up - I’ve lost 1.5 inches on it! Did you never go back to sport? I’m still deciding what to do - very nerve wracking and if I can’t get back to feeling confident in moving well I shall leave it and just concentrate on my golf. I hate running unless it’s within a sport but C25k seems to be the answer for now.
