So I’ve been plodding away since graduating. More so now I’m furloughed, and was loving it, I had a twinge, but today my achilles is really sore. Presume rest and ice? Would strapping help?

I would rest, follow the PRICE principles and when it is less painful start some eccentric heel drops to gently stretch it.

I am not a physio, but this is what i did on the advice of my physio friend when I tweaked my Achilles.

I did not run for a month.

Take care.

If you got checked out by a physio they may give you a totally different prognosis and treatment.

True, but my husband has had his appointments cancelled so I’ll rest up and ice it just now. Because of lockdown I’ve been using the track next to me up to a wind farm which is a steep climb up for most of it, and I’ve read that can cause it. Not that I’m fit enough to run the steep bits I hasten to add 😉.

Thanks for that info. I can now say I’m avoiding injury - not that I’m avoiding hills (inclines 🤣). I live I Hertfordshire while isn’t known for its mountains!! Hope you get back our running soon

Did this get better? Mine has just started hurting sheet W6R1.

Yes. I did lots of reading and found some exercises which really do help. It’s still a bit sore but only stopped running for about week but cut back a bit, but now back to my every other day mostly. I still ice it, and some days I wear a support. I also use a magnesium spray on it.

That's great to hear. Mine have swollen slightly, am on wk 6 but taking it v steady and ice when I can. I Really don't want to have to give up as I've come so far so keeping it v light for now, but am interested in what support you use and do you wear whilst running?

It was an elasticated Prosport ankle one. I read that compression can help. There’s also advice on using tape too. This is the site with the exercises I used
