knee pain from hell

Completed Wk6 run 2 on Sat, all fine, went out for a walk Sun,still fine. Sun night my knee swelled up and was really painful on outside. Struggled to fully straighten or bend leg without knee pain.Tried massaging tfl below hip and seems to be easing but assume I've done something wrong. I've read slightly widening your feet and sticking out your tailbone ( just a tiny amount) can prevent this.....any other advice?

See your GP immediately.

I definitely wouldn't run until you've seen your GP as the swelling and pain are your body's way of trying to tell you something. I know how frustrating it is but to carry on running risks making things worse and may well mean it takes longer to recover.

It's almost completely back to normal now. Should I still be worried / go to gp?

Hi Jambo78 I have just been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my left knee, swelling, pain won’t bend won’t straighten etc etc see my previous posts. I have been told to stop running so glad I completed C25K. Needing to heal now then back to the gym but no running now for me.

Maybe you should stop and get it checked out. Listen to your body. Good luck.

Well after finding cause and treatment for my knee for 6 months I'm back in the program. Wk 5 run 3 on Saturday. So far no knee issues, wish me luck.

Really glad you’ve got a diagnosis and that whatever treatment you’ve had has allowed you to start running again. Long may that continue!

Just to check: you didn’t start at week 5? After a long break and knee issues, usually starting a bit earlier would be recommended.
