Slow but sure progress

Amazingly I've gone in 2 weeks from an overweight 60 year old who never & I mean ever ran for any reason at all to running for 3 minutes! Yes I just did my first session of week 3, very slowly and I know it isn't much to most people but to me it's nothing short of miraculous. The start of every week is scary but I've done it.

Great job on week 3 run 1. Many of us remember those early weeks wondering if we'd be able to cope with it and an element of fear about future runs if looking ahead in the programme. Those 3 mins were very much a big deal. Soon you realise that most of it is mental barriers (or in my case, not going slow enough) and your body is ready for those next steps. Slow and steady, run by run. Well done, keep going! 👍

3 minutes really stands out for me. I remember coming back from that run, bumping into a friend and saying "I just ran for 3 minutes", proud as punch. X

It feels like a milestone to me. I'm sure there will be more ahead but after my first 3 minute run today I actually feel I might be able to do this. 😀

Of course you can. I was 56, never run before. There will be no stopping you now x

Well done M0use ! I started C25K just over two years ago aged 59 and it's astonishing what you can end up doing. Stick with the programme, believe in yourself and you'll succeed. Most of all, enjoy yourself!

Well done! Keep going. I started end of Dec19 aged 63 and had never ran before either. I now run 5k three times a week and joined a running group. I reglarly pinch myself and think who is this women. I am not fast but determined. Well done you.

Ohhh, I keep those memories of running 60 seconds in week 1 very closely in my heart, I promise you. I think most people here will have a milestone which they particularly treasure, and we all understand and share your pride in your achievement. Well done, you're doing brilliantly 👏

Well done! I bet you are so proud……… and so you should! You are amazing!!

Like you, I never ran anwhere! I was very overweight, and I struggled even running a bath!!!😂 but I completed the programme! Now I can run for 30-35 minutes!! I feel much better when I’ve done a run….. even though sometimes I don’t feel like going out. For my last birthday, I got a treadmill……. Me! With a treadmill…… if you knew me, then you would be laughing your head off at this statement😂

Keep going, you’ve done the hardest bit by starting the programme. I’m not saying the rest is easy, but this programme trains your mind as well as your body! Continue to amaze yourself! When you look back, you won’t believe what you’ve achieved!! I bet you didn’t think it were possible to run 3 minute….. but you did!

Well done again, and thanks for sharing this with us all!
