I am managing to run for 30 minutes each time now, I don't find it easy but hey - I'm hanging on in there! I still can't manage the 5k so my aim now is to improve my distance. This week I have improved by 0.1km, not exactly earth shattering but at least I'm headed in the right direction!
Slow (very slow!! ).......but sure!! - Couch to 5K
Slow (very slow!! ).......but sure!!
Maybe not earth shattering but progress all the same! I can do the 30 minutes fine but only just learning the technology to log my stats! Google maps measures my run at 4.4K. Got a smart phone at the weekend and just had my son talk me through all the settings for an hour. Last time I used it I really pushed myself and ended up logging ZERO! K!
I'm another slow runner - don't knock that 0.1K improvement, my last run had a 0.02K improvement on the previous one and I was chuffed with that! At graduation I was doing 3.7K in 30 minutes, then tried the couch to 5K+ podcasts but decided to go back to 30 minutes again. Now I have reached 4.1K in 30 minutes (and then 4.12K!) so I wonder if the speed podcast did help. Have you tried any of these podcasts?
Hello, I do the C25k speed podcast quite regularly and I think it's great! It was a bit of a struggle to start with, but it's definitely getting easier and it's helping with my longer runs. Also, it's a good one to do if you're short of time, because the whole podcast only lasts 26 mins, and that includes the 5 min warm up walks at the beginning and end, so there's only 16 mins of running, which consists of some light jogging and then a series of intervals. Quite good fun!
Hello from the slowest runner ever and getting slower as I improve on distance! I can manage 7.5 K (sometimes!) but it takes me an hour
Slow is okay! Steady is good! I've been a bit put off posting recently because I just plod along, slow and steady, never really improving - so it's great to hear from others who just go our and run what they can too
Scotsheather, don't take the distances returned by phone apps as gospel. Endomondo gave me a variation of 0.4k on exactly the same route and I don't find Runkeeper much more accurate and this morning it only found satellites on my walk back home. If you run the same routes frequently then you should be able to compare your time against landmarks. Remember why you are running, just to get exercise (I presume) so the speed or distance covered is of secondary importance.
Aww, reading all your encouraging posts has made me feel much better about my apparent non improvement!! I'm using spoken word podcasts now and must say I'm enjoying those- going to have a listen to a Desert Island Discs episode tomorrow. Iannoda - I am loving that my run tracker might not be accurate! And you are right, the aim was always to get exercise so I'm just going to enjoy the fact that 10 weeks ago I thought running for 1 minute was going to kill me!!
