Practicing an attitude of gratitude 😅

I could have been annoyed that my son wanted a lift to work before 7am on my day off.

I could have been frustrated that my sun glasses kept sliding down my nose every time I ran.

I could have given up and gone home when my Bluetooth headphones started playing silly beggars and bleeping in my ear refusing to play my music or the lovely Sarah Millican.

Instead I remembered the podcast I was listening to earlier this week about practicing an attitude of gratitude.

So I chose to be thankful that once my taxi-ing duties were over I was already up and ready to enjoy the most of the beautiful morning.

I chose to focus on the fact I was wearing sunglasses in the first place because the sun is shining and the sky is blue.

The last one was a little harder. If you read any of my posts from my first C25K journey you’ll know how much inspiration I draw from music as I run. I contemplated turning and going home but I knew if I did that it would be the run over. I decided to just make the best of it, played the music out loud and just cracked on. It meant I felt a little less locked in my own bubble, it was nice as I was more aware of other sounds and people around me.

I was able to notice and respond to all the other runners and dog walkers that smiled and said hi.

And best of all I was able to speak to the lady who I see every time I run and thank her for what she does - she’s there every morning with a litter picker, collecting rubbish from the path and at the play park. What a legend.

Week one done! Ready for week 2 👊🏻

When you graduate you will be so thankful not to have to grapple with the C25K app any more!! (though you might miss Sarah, she's great)

😂 that is true. Embarrassingly I’ve since discovered that my headphones weren’t malfunctioning at all, I’d just inadvertently turned the volume down to nothing 🙈 so hopefully no drama’s tomorrow

Well done. If you can afford them, bone conduction headphones can give you the best of both worlds: you get to listen to your music or podcast but can still hear the environment as well as they don’t cover your ears. Also good for safety if you run near traffic. But not cheap as I say.
