A Subzero Run - Week 3 Run 2

Last week was a warm shorts and tee run 🥵, my first run of week 3 on Tuesday was 2 degrees and snow 🌨❄ and this morning was a gloriously sunny and frosty minus 2!🥶

Running on deep mud with a crust of ice was a novel experience for me and I loved it!😁

With my new bone conducting headphones I could even hear the Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming over the top of my music.

Long tights, long-sleeved top, t-shirt, lightweight jacket, neck buff, gloves. And my buff sun visor of course! Hidden I even kept my gloves on all run! 😁

The new exercises from the physio have left my quads screaming a bit and I really struggled with the first 3 minute run this morning. My legs just didn't want to play ball.

By the next run interval I felt a lot better and the final 3 minute run I felt good but held back as I really don't want to do too much.

This is reflected in my pace 9.03 for the first 3 minute run and 7.32 for the second.

Overall I really enjoyed this run.

Back home, stretches done, coffee and a breakfast of left over fried potato, sausage and egg.😋 Not very healthy, I know but have you ever seen an egg with such a large proportion of yolk to white?

Off to South Wales now for a couple of days. Back home on Saturday and hopefully run3 on Sunday

Nothing wrong with the occasional fry-up, especially after a good exercise.

Thanks Ian. I enjoyed the crispy, crusty mud this morning. The trips for a family "celebration of life" but it will be nice to see the grandkids again

Well done Birdlady, you're making good progress and your Graduation will soon be in sight. Meanwhile, enjoy your breakfasts - it's not all about avocado on sour dough all of the time! Best wishes ☺️

Thanks! For years I never ate it but breakfast is the best meal of the day, especially at weekends when I have time to relax and savour it

And I do love a nice ripe avocado on sourdough toast too 😋

It’s a tough time of year for any sort of exercise, we woke to rain and I’ve slept on and off most the day, hoping it’s dry tomorrow

The forecast is looking OK.It just depends on when I manage to force myself out of bed - not done much, but it's been a draining few days

For me too Birdlady and getting out of bed after draining days (emotionally or physically) is particularly hard. I’m getting out there today. But just for a short run as i don’t think I could handle a long one but at the end of the day we get days like this and even if you get out for just a walk that’s progress so don’t be too hard on yourself and think of that feeling you get afterwards!

You are right of course. I'm not beating myself up about anything, just thankful to be running again
