Week 2 Run 3 done (post Covid)

Hi, I posted that I was restarting C25k after having had Covid at Christmas and essentially being unable to even walk anywhere for four months, let alone run: healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I did week 2 run 3 yesterday, and am glad to report it’s going well! I’m finding my legs seem to be protesting more than my lungs, which I wasn’t expecting but is understandable after 4 months of no exercise.

I’m still finding I get fatigued easily so have to give myself permission to rest and not do too much at home, particularly as I’m also walking to and from work on the days between runs (c. 20mins each way).

Overall I’m feeling positive that the programme is building my stamina back up, and hope this post gives hope to other runners who have been similarly side-lined by long covid - fingers crossed that you too may get to a place where you can start to return to running 😘

Hi KB

Good to read that it’s going well.

It seems that “take it gently” is a good approach to building back after Covid.

Yes, it's very up and down - for the longest time I felt really good one day and would get hopeful that I was getting over it, but would then feel awful for the next few days; it was very dispiriting.

When one starts to feel better for a prolonged period of time it's difficult to rein it in and not overdo it, I find! So I'm actively trying to be better at doing less 🤣

I remember your post from a week or two ago. Really glad you’ve made a positive start and it seems like you’ve got a great attitude to slowing down and resting if you find you need to.

Sending you all the good wishes for your running journey.

Glad to hear that it’s going well with both the running and the resting. Sounds like you’ve found a good balance and are listening to your body.

You’ll get there. I’ve found the programme has gone really fast so you’ll be back soon. Wishing you lovely, uplifting runs along the way
