First run of week 1 done!

Started the C25K to get me fit in order to pass a fitness test I have to become a prison officer in 4 weeks! This app is great for giving me the motivation to get up off my backside and getting fitted! I have to say after my first run I’m knackered xD I guess no pain no gain and I’m sure it will get easier with each run (at least I hope so)

What do you havr to be able to do in 4 weeks ? Just running or other stuff ?

Thanks :) Tbf in 4 weeks it’s only 5.4 on the bleep test - which I believe to be like the equivalent of 0.8k or jogging for 5 mins at a steady pace.. then I believe there’s a grip test and agility test... I know this C25K is overkill for said test but I want to push myself and get to the 5k and continue it! I’m 34 and been a lazy ass for too long xD it’s very easy to say I’ll do it tomorrow.

It's a brilliant programme and really works. Just don't try to run fast, a light jog is all you need to increase your stamina and fitness to start with. Slow and steady!

Yes I realised that about half way through my first run today 😂 I started the first 4 60 secs running thinking ah this isn’t too bad but the last 4 were certainly at a jog 😂 biggest prob I had today is it’s really hilly by me so I chose a circuit of houses that meant my running was relatively flat with a slight decline but my 90 sec cool down was walking up hill. I will choose a better run for my next 2 this week.

I must admit that I hate running uphill BUT the wise advice on here is that it is BRILLIANT for your fitness and much kinder on your joints than running downhill. I try to face at least a bit of uphill jogging each week now but I don't think I will ever love it. In the early days of the programme, if it said run on an uphill bit, I sometimes just turned round and ran downhill instead! 😂
