Last Saturday I finally graduated after 10 years of trying to complete this challenge!! I have been plagued with injury’s or loss of interest, to just things happening in my life taking over and stopping me from finishing it. That was until I met the wonderful group called Rogue Runners in Ripley. They gave us so much support for the last ten weeks that I’m glad I graduated with them and not on my own as if felt so good as a group to complete it together. Seeing where people had come from and where we all ended up was very rewarding! Me and one of the other members ran the park run together in about 32 minutes which I’m glad about. And a sub 30 minutes is definitely on the cards for the future 👍. In all honesty I was just happy to complete it at all as 10 weeks ago I could barely run for 30 seconds! If anyone is struggling out there give your local running club a go, they may do programs like ours periodically and I fully recommend you doing them if they come up, if only to share your struggles with others.
I don’t have any aspirations to carry on to 10k but you never know. I’ve taken a week off from running as the shins were giving me some grief but I’ll be back on it on Monday 👍
Massive thanks and a shout out the wonderful people at Rogue Runners Ripley. I have nothing but respect for you all. And thanks for the information and advice over the years on this forum.
Good luck to all those that are starting. Keep up the great work and the best advice I can give you is go at your own pace. Barely more than walking speed is more than enough, don’t worry about the time.
