Does anyone know if there's a way of putting the C25K music from the NHS podcast on to the app? I started C25K last year and had to stop at week 7 due to ill health, I want to start again using the app to help track my progress this time but there is no automatic music, it just seems to have links to download other songs to play over the top. I liked the soundtrack on the NHS podcast as it was obviously tailored to fit the pace you are currently doing at any given time. Any help appreciated.
Is there any way to transfer NHS C25K podcast ... - Couch to 5K
Is there any way to transfer NHS C25K podcast music to the app?
Hi Dunroaminbeachbum , I don't think there's a music-only version of the podcast.
I used it myself and tbh very rarely found that the music fitted my pace. I wasn't keen on most of it anyway, except for Julie, of whom obviously nobody can ever have enough!
If you find it helpful to run to music with a specific number of beats per minute there's plenty to download and use with the app.
As for tracking progress, all I did was write the date and run week/number, and a phrase about how it had gone, in a notebook. Very low tech, but there again I'm not into spreadsheets etc. I didn't even post on the forum until I'd completed the programme!
Hi Cmoi, thanks for your reply. Apologies that I don't think I made myself quite clear as I didn't mean a music only one.The podcast I used from the C25K section of the NHS website had Laura's audio directing you on what to do and counting you down on each phase, with a soundtrack in the background that faded when she talked and the volume automatically went back up in between. The app has her same audio recording but silence in between with no music on there. There is a function to add your own music to play with her audio over the top, but I would really like the soundtrack that the NHS podcast had made for it as I found it worked really well for me, but I can't find it anywhere.
Hope this makes more sense?
I obviously didn't make myself clear either!
I thought you were asking to download the NHS music to use with Laura as your coach on the app. You'd need a music-only version because otherwise, as Frizzbomb67 says, the two commentaries would compete.
If you really want NHS music and Laura, then do as IannodaTruffe says and simply use the podcasts.
I thought you might be able to turn off the sound on the C25K app so you could have them both running together but you can only turn it down. I think the commentaries might compete. Sorry no other ideas 💡
All you will be missing if you use the podcasts, rather than the app, is the logging of your runs.
You could theoretically run the app and play the podcast as your music, but you might well find timing issues and as mentioned by Frizzbomb67 the commentaries may repeat if they are not absolutely in sync.
The app is pretty unreliable. Why not just use the podcasts?
The guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... is essential reading.
Thanks for the input everyone, think I'll just stick with the podcasts! My fitbit will track the runs anyway, I just thought the app would be good to keep it all together in one place. But after IannodaTruffe's comment about the app being unreliable I've taken a look at reviews and lots of people seem to have trouble with it anyway. Starting week 1 again today, hopefully I won't have any more health problems and I'll get past week 7 this time!
Thanks again, your advice (and the plan guide) are much appreciated!
When I did C25K originally in 2017 Laura did have music in the background which stopped when she was talking. I don’t know if it was altered or what but the music has now disappeared. At the moment I have no music in the background, I’m just concentrating on trying not to fall over the dog who’s running along with me 🏃♀️🐕😆
