I just read this Instagram post by Laura of the C25K podcast. If you like Instagram Laura is a good follow because she's been sharing some interesting stuff about the development of the NHS C25K.
She's @couch_to_5k_laura. Hi Laura
Anyway, on this particular post she writes about the music that's on the podcast. Apparently it's all her fault!
Plenty of people moan about the music on the NHS C25K podcast, and I agree that it is not all to my taste. However, it is reassuring to read that the music has been carefully chosen for tempo and mood. Just the opening track during the warm-up walk on W1r1 is a clearly motivational song and sets the scene for what is to follow. Even the electronic dance music in Week 7 (I think) that I would normally dislike seems to arrive at a time on a longer run when I need to dig deep and just get on with it.
So, Saint Laura and producer ChristophFinch - a job well done.
"Listen. Original business, I'm bringing you a new style".
I was perhaps a bit too quick to dismiss the music myself. I listened to a bit of the W1D1 podcast at home and thought "no way am I running to that music!". So I used the app (the old one with just Laura's voice - ancient history because I'm coming up to my third anniversary of graduation), and offended one or two people on here by voicing a dislike for the music
However, I have since realised that I missed out on something there!
oooh I had no idea she was still busy working on our behalf. i thought she'd hung up her shoes. I shall deffo have a listen. Laura is to blame is she. Hmmm. Naughty girl! That bloody Julie has a lot to answer for!
I do feel though my banging on about doing the Stepping Stones podcasts has been vindicated! Tee hee
Also, what worries me is that in ignoring the Laura (or whomever the voice coach is) folks miss the TIPS and GOOD ADVICE. I slavishly hung onto every word and every snippet, tip and word of wisdom. I still hear her voice telling me head up, look ahead, shoulders back etc etc.
