Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

You cannot rush getting fit......... slow down.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Excellent! It all looks so do-able doesn't it - 60 seconds of running... and yet for many of us, it is by far the hardest session... learning to run at a sustainable pace doesn't come instantly!

I was really daunted by the thought of moving from 60 secs in week 1 to 90 secs in week 2. I'm on week 7 now. The program works - you can do it. Go SLOW. keep at it and good luck!

I never actually thought I would graduate until about week 6 - which took me about 13 weeks to get to :)That was five years ago, nowadays 10k is an enjoyable run :)

This programme works miracles :) Take it slow, steady and at your own pace - and fun on at least some level. You'll be amazed at your running probably sooner than you can believe :)

Wishing you many happy miles in your future :)

Stick it out mate! I started last year at the age of 73 and now do the Parkrun 5k every Saturday. Follow the guidelines to ease yourself into it. You can do it!

Well done on taking the plunge too! I am also on WK1. Good luck with it and I hope to hear that in 9 weeks we are both graduating the program!

Windy15 , Hi, I started running in Feb, I could only run for 45 secs on W1R1, like you , it felt like a massive struggle. I graduated in July, so I took my time, had to repeat quite a few weeks. I am 58, have had new hips both sides. am running for 30 mins, which is about 3k for me, 2-3 times a week. Most importantly, I am enjoying it, although it’s still hard. If I can do it, anyone can. Just keep following the programme, go at your own pace and you will get there😊
