Week 6 run 1 done!

Gave it a go - I’ve been avoiding the spoiler spreadsheet that tells you what’s next so as to not ruin the surprise each time. So when Denise says “go for it “ I just do without worrying what’s around the next bend. So off I trot on the run. The bell goes at half time and I’m surprised cause I add up the running times in my head and it’s less than last week. This is where you say “hey rockstar let’s go faster and get Strava medals” - but this is also where the other guy (say your inner forum guru people) says “maintain your breath, keep your pace, get to the end in style not a red faced wheezing mess -you still have to bike your kid home from school, do the laundry and make dinner after.” Anyway, I did push a bit harder and found the run a bit of a challenge (mostly because the walk to run transitions for me are harder than the keep running parts) but I did finish it and will go back for more after today’s rest and strength train day. Mini triumph for me. Best wishes to anyone out there in London today - it’s a wet one.

Well done on completing week 6 run 1 .As you say , the running time is less but the total training time is more , don't forget the brisk walks are also part of the total training time . 👍

Yeah I definitely try to keep the walking bit effort close to the running one. My speed walk is a well honed art from crossing Waterloo bridge sometimes more than once a day to make a cIient meeting with less than 10 minutes to spare -in heels! I found if I slow the walk too much - it’s way harder to get it back up to run.

Yes, keeping the walk brisk is important! But I wouldn't want to do it in heels 🤣

Congratulations.

That was your longest overall workout to date............the one that catches out more people than any other in the plan, simply because they push too hard.

Thanks - as we North Americans say I’ve been drinking the kool-aid

You are doing great! :)

Not succumbing to the "inner speed freak" nor the "walk bits getting a bit frustrating" gremlin is a good sign :) Keep on, slow and steady, and soon not only will the walk breaks be a thing of the past, we will see "Graduate" beside your name :)

Wishing you many happy miles in your future :)
