Week 1 Run 1 Done...(sort of)

First run done this morning! In the position where I could lose around 50kg running is tough.

I’m not ashamed to admit I only managed 4 of the 8 run cycles this morning. I don’t see this as a failure, I see it as the start of something that I need to just go at my own pace. If it takes me a bit longer than average to move on to the next step then so be it. At least I’m on the step and I see that as progress. I will look at this post in a month from and say “wow look how far I’ve come from that first torturous run”

Thanks to all the kind words and motivation from my previous post. It is very much appreciated that I am not alone in this journey.

Much love and good luck with all you own personal journeys.

Well done, you're absolutely right take as much time as you need to get where you want to be. It doesn't matter how many times you need to do a run to fully complete it that what the repeat button is for . Also keep posting because as you say when you look back on your posts you'll see how well you are doing.

Weight loss will come you just need to be very patient and be mindful of what you are eating . You can do this. Good luck 😊😊

Well done.

As the guide to the plan states healthunlocked.com/couchto5... repeat any session that you do not fully complete, after a rest day.

Try slowing down.

There is no speed requirement........the challenge is duration........pace yourself.

Slow down. Your own pace is the one that you can run the eight intervals at. If you're on a treadmill just dial it down a bit.

And you're right. The only failure is not going for a run when you could have.

You don’t have to go fast! You just have to go! My hero is Japanese Slow Running Man on YouTube. Good guide for speed, stance and breathing. In my case hair colour too.

May I suggest that at this stage you ditch the techie stuff that records your time and distance? Just get the basic Laura C25k podcast, and just follow her support, guidance and encouragement. How far or fast you go is totally irrelevant for a week or two. Just go. Brisk walk and jog a bit. Repeat. That first week got me too. Those are really long minutes. 90 seconds brisk walk was still a killer. Took me a couple of weeks to crack that. Once you do though, You are getting fitter during this process. You will find it a bit easier to go further each time. The plan works. If you are not happy with a run. Do it again a couple of days later. Don’t rush!

I wish I had taken a “before” pic and measured carefully, including biceps and thighs. Makes more sense of the better, fitter, healthier that you can get to, and WILL!

Well done and keep it going

Next time it will be better

You doing great

Good luck 💪🏃‍♀️

Well done! You're already a winner by starting! Go at your own pace! We're all here to support and encourage each other 🤗 You can do this!

I was in a similar position to you in April. I had just finished all my breast cancer treatment in March (surgery, chemo, radiotherapy) and wanted a personal fitness challenge. I have never run before and couldn’t even manage 30 seconds to start. By taking it slowly, being kind to myself and enjoying every little achievement I made I am almost there. I have repeated runs and weeks when I felt I needed to, hence this taking me 4 months! But l have now done a 30 min run and and just off for W9R2. Keep going, it’s worth the effort and the sense of achievement is huge! (And btw I’ve lost a stone in weight) You can do this!
