VRB meet-up at Cambridge parkrun

Curlygurly2 hosted a VRB meet-up at Coldham's Common parkrun on Saturday 11th September 2021. It was lovely to meet you!

Myself, Tailchaser and our kittens were tourists. Apologies if we missed any other HU forum members! The pic is before the run - could you tell? 🀣

It's a 2x lap course around the common and football / rugby pitches so it is all on grass with the odd rabbit hole to avoid! Conditions were humid so it felt cold to start with but you very soon got warm once you were off running.

We briefly met at the end for a chat. Normally we would go somewhere for tea and cake or bacon rolls after the run but we all had places to be so it was a brief encounter!

An excellent VRB meet up Katnap, TailChaser , kittens and Curlygurly2 . It’s great to see people getting together again, even if briefly.

Don’t like the idea of rabbit πŸ‡ holes though.

I like idea of πŸ‡ xx Yes real people! I am hoping a week on Sunday I find someone to chat to, preferably in English..my Welsh is a tad limited!

I might be in your area next weekend. Unfortunately the Hafan Pwllheli parkrun doesn't appear to be on at the moment. They cite Covid as the reason. 😟

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to nowster

Yes..Hafan isn't happening...they are opening more as and when they are able. I would not have run it,as my Race for life is on the Sunday...the legs aren't back up to consecutive days yet!

I expect they're holding back until y twristiaidd have mostly mynd adref. πŸ˜‰πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ Ώ

I was talking to my dad this afternoon and he told me that even though schools had gone back Pwllheli is still heaving.

I keep saying that! We cannot wait to get back Tuesday! Our daughter said it was quiet this weekend but then they were in the hills.. swimming in the rivers.. too cold for most twristiaid! Small runner in training loved it... her Mama learned to swim in a pool below Llyn Edno!

Depends on how far they go... 🀣

Those rabbit holes acted as an excellent distraction Dexy, the last thing I wanted to do was fall down yet another hole!! I think we scared all the rabbits off unfortunately.

It would be rude to not visit when we knew we would be in the area! 😲

Aww! That's a shame! Curlygurly2 did mention you.a few times today. We might be back around the festive season so we could visit Storeys Field then πŸ±πŸ‘

Two Sunday mornings ago I was running in the back lanes about 5 miles to the west of Cambridge.

Katnap profile image
KatnapGraduate in reply to nowster

That's where HU meet-ups mean you don't necessarily have to run on your own. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘

Not everyone would be interested in doing a 10 mile circuit from Hardwick!

Curlygurly2 profile image
Curlygurly2Graduate in reply to nowster

Madge50 would!!

What? Hardwick......you’re talking my manor there......πŸ˜‰πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ.....Mx

I was staying at the Wallis Farmhouse self catering in Hardwick.

I ran North on Cambridge Road, turned left on St Neots Road, then South on Highfields Road/Main St to the end, turned left and ran on the B road through Toft and Comberton, left up Long Road and then through the fields back to Hardwick.

10 miles in total and I crossed the Greenwich Meridian twice.

Nice πŸ‘ yes, that’s just near me, and a route I do sometimes - there’s also a cut through before the shop....i usually cut back across the fields before Toft.....not up to 10 miles at the mo.....πŸ˜‚

If you were here on a Saturday and turned right on St Neots road you could have run down to Storeys Field parkrun, it’s behind Madingley park and ride....

Hope you enjoyed your stay!

I had noticed a path cutting a corner near Toft which I assumed was an old railway branch line route.
