Post covid run

My quarantine period finishes tomorrow after a fairly nasty covid infection. I never had a cough or any shortage of breath. I however did feel very fluey and still feel knackered 10 days after my symptoms first came on. I’ve got it in my head I’m gonna go for my first post covid run in the morning. My last run was a week gone Sunday so shouldn’t be any problems picking up where I left off. What was others first post covid run like? Any problems or was it ok? Cheers in advance.

The still feeling knackered bit of your post suggests it may not be quite so simple to get back on the horse where you left off. I’d go for a short slow run tomorrow and then assess how I feel after that.

Good to hear you are coming out of the other side… have a pleasant time out there in the fresh air again.

Be kind to yourself, go for a no pressure no expectations run and see how to it goes .... It could take a little time to get back to where you were

I think you should listen to you body. If you’re still feeling knackered maybe it’s too soon for a run? It’s frustrating lying around recuperating! You feel like you’re doing both when in fact your body is working incredibly hard to get you back to fighting fit. I’d start of with a walk if anything when far less tired as not resting fully after Covid can risk long Covid. It was about 3 months before I attempted anything but I had it on my lungs and was very unfit before Covid. The first time I could walk without pausing felt phenomenal. The first walk to the shops I had felt so pathetic as a 15 -20 minute walk was causing me to pause for 10-15 minutes at least twiceBeing able to run and get up stairs with no breathing problems feels amazing! Don’t rush the progress though. You will get there, little by little.

Thanks for the reply guys. I think a short run will be best for me and see how I go afterwards. Covid has been a pain as I’d just got back into running the previous 4 weeks after nearly 4 months out with an injury. I guess I’m lucky this darn virus didn’t affect my lungs so should be ok for a short run then take it slowly from there. Again thanks for the kind words.
