Can covid really effect people that much? It’s 3 weeks since I got a negative test after 2 weeks of positives and did my first attempt at a run. 6 very slow minutes and if I tried to continue I think I would have fallen my legs just didn’t want to move!!!! Cardio is fine, only just got into zone 2. Just legs don’t work!! Keep well everyone.

Covid and long Covid can take a considerable time to recover from for some people, so take it easy.

As with anyone after a setback, just accept that you are where you are and build yourself back up nice and slowly.

I had covid over Christmas and it took me 3 months to even feel vaguely like running. That tiredness and heavy leg feeling is horrid. I think I must have started from scratch 3 times before enjoying it properly. Don’t push yourself till your body is ready!

“Post covid comeback run victory” there, fixed the title for you!
Yes, covid can affect people for a long time… what matters is that you’re now past the infection and while not where you were physically, you have a base to work from again. Very well done getting back out there and running. If you’re like I was and that first 60 second run of the plan was really tough, you just managed 6 times that after a nasty virus… that’s worthy of a celebration when you think about it.

I’ve run for all of four minutes 3 weeks post negative test. I didn’t enjoy it at all. My covid was mild.
I’m going to continue walking until I get the urge to run again :p. I was two runs from graduating - now I think I’m going back to week 4! (Or was it 3? I have to go look at the timings again!)

It is different for everyone. My first run post Covid was changed to just a brisk walk at the last minute as I felt a bit tired. I was just fine the day after and continued with the Juju's magic plan..I was in second last week when Covid hit.Just listen to your body & go with that. Make sure you are still hydrating yourself, doing pre & post run stretches and the works.

I had very mild symptoms over New Year, but my legs felt like lead for several weeks afterwards and I know a few people who felt the same. Just listen to your body and you’ll be fine!

I had Covid in early April, and it’s only now that I am just starting to contemplate runs over 5K. Exercise like walking or yoga was fine, running definitely not, and I also had those heavy legs. I was due to run a half marathon the weekend that I got Covid, and now I can’t quite imagine having the stamina to run one for quite a while, partly because I have lost fitness.
I am becoming convinced that people who don’t run don’t know if they are still affected by Covid, because so many runners - not all of course - are still aware of the effects after weeks or months.
