Picture me astonished. Thanks to all the useful suggestions here I just actually completed W1R1 at the first attempt. At 72 with diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and a couple of old heart attacks it was by no means guaranteed. It wasn't easy and it certainly wasn't pretty. I suspect that any outside observers would have had difficulty recognising my 60 second slow jogs as anything connected with the word "run" but that's fine. At least the Active10 app agreed that I was going briskly.
I have a few medical things going on next week so I'm not sure when I'll get to R2 but I definitely will. All things C25K now seem potentially possible.

Well done slipstick, that’s great news! Slow jogs are exactly what’s needed here so don’t fret! I’m the world’s slowest runner (I can walk faster!) but I get there in the end! Check out the Japanese Slow Running clip on YouTube- it might suit you perfectly! Enjoy your C25k journey !
It was the tanaka slow jogging videos that persuaded me this might be possible. Even that takes some concentration on midsole striking, relaxed shoulders, looking up etc. but I found that helped me to avoid thinking that I was doing something I'd never been able to do before😊.
Oh well done!!! Yes, the Niko Niko pace is a game changer for many of us, including myself! And hopefully you already glimpse the deliciously slow runs ahead of you! I love slow running! So welcome and so well done! Keep on keeping on!
Welcome, we are all running our own way, enjoy yours and be proud, you are amazing to be starting this journey, take as many rest days as you need and go as slow as you like, it’s running which is magic
Huge well done you and yes, you are right anything is possible. As a slightly creaky 71 year old, I tell myself that all the time:)Just take it slow and steady, do what you are able to, when you are able and run with pride and enjoyment
As Edison said
"If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves."
I like that Edison quote but you have to weigh it up against the quote often attributed to Einstein "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results." I've failed miserably at C25K a few times but here I am again. Let's hope Edison knows something Einstein doesn't😁.
No..definitely take the Edison quotation..or Einstein's theory..."In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure".
Congratulations on getting out there you should feel very proud, slow and steady nobody is racing anyone only themselves. It’s great to have a challenge to keep motivated 🏃♀️🏃🏻
I'm always impressed when people take up running later in life and even more so when there are also health issues. Assuming you have had medical advice, and you are enjoying your running - the slower, the better is key - then long may you continue. I look forward to hearing your progress not only with your running, but also with the health benefits that you will most likely discover. Best wishes ☺️
My GP didn't seem to think I was likely to get very far with the program but said that making the effort was worthwhile - carefully. I hope to prove her wrong while still staying careful😁.
