Hi all,

I have just done the first run and found it really hard! I have quite bad asthma and have decided to do this to try and improve my breathing but really struggled. I’m going to stick with it but was wondering if anyone else found it hard too??

Thank you

Jade😊

Well done Jade! I’ve never ran before and also found it hard but stick with it, with every run you’ll see your fitness improve.

On your next run take it easy and go slow. You don’t want to leave yourself short of breath and want to still be able to talk while you run. Best of luck on your journey

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and explains the recommended easy conversational pace.........at which you will be able to breathe.

Enjoy your journey.

My first run was very hard but run 2 , I slowed down, concentrated on breathing and it was easier, couldn’t imagine doing 30 minutes but in just 6 weeks I run for 20 mins on Friday and although not easy i did it. Keep going slow down and don’t be worried about repeating a day or even a week. You can do it.

Welcome along ! On my first attempt at 1:1 I turned purple and nearly died after jogging the first 20 seconds. I had to start with 2 different walking paces and it took me nine weeks of repeats to conquer week 1. And I’m not asthmatic ! So you’re doing great. Stick with it x

Thank you so much for this! It’s made me feel so much better and more hopeful that I’ll be able to do it... eventually haha

Hey well done! You might find that the next run is more comfortable, the first run you are getting used to the structure, the personal trainer, maybe even the environment around you so it’s a lot to take in, see how you feel after your next run. I would advise you read the FAQ blog aswell because it is full of great information for a newbie! I am on week 3 now, slowly slowly gently gently getting there.

Thank you for your reply! I have just read the FAQs and have decided to go for a flatter run (my house is surrounded by steep roads so I’m going further a field until I get used to it)

I’ve just started my C25K journey and the first run for me was hard! No asthma here, but boy I felt awful! Seeing the red face in the mirror when I finally got back made me chuckle, but reminded me that I’ve finally begun to do something! I will definitely be taking it steady next time haha!
