I had to stop running in April because of hip pain. I restarted at week 1 in June and got as far as week 5 run 2 when the hip niggle kicked in again. It had been going so well, I was looking forward to the 20 minute run (really!). So I hadn't run since 18th July, I was eating more junk food and got quite down over the summer. Feeling tired all the time and not sleeping well, I had a blood test and there is a problem with my blood sugar; I am pre-diabetic. Well, that was a wake-up call! Although I do one long walk a week, I do spend a lot of time sitting, and have too many biscuits with my coffee.
September is a new month, a fresh start. Yesterday I was out for a good walk, and being out in the fresh air always makes me feel better. Today I was up at 7.30, some warm water with lemon, a few dynamic stretches, and out of the door by 7.50 for C25k Week 1 Run 1. That first podcast with Laura is uplifting with some good music to get you going.
So far only a tiny hip niggle. I'm on the road again

I am wearing Asics support running shoes which have been great (I didn't know I had flat feet!). I did do some hip exercises for a couple of months, but I struggle with motivation to do exercises indoors - I must make the effort! If it starts to get painful again, I will book an assessment with a physio, just one of those things I keep putting off
Oh so good to see you back running, we started again with a newly running friend on Tuesday second run of week 1 today so we can encourage each other, keep it really slow to help that hip
