I have triumphed over the step (what I saw as a jump) up to Week 4.
I was supposed to do it last night, but what with Italy and Spain going to penalties, which was quite selfish of them, it was too late to run around in the dark like a burglar.
Tonight, even with Englands ET, I forced myself out the door. I set myself a slower pace to try and be consistent at and set off. 30 minutes later I was still alive.
Really happy I've done it. Every new week looks daunting to try, but chuffed when its complete and you wonder why you were worrying. Don't get me wrong, it was hard and I sweated buckets at the end, but I have it in my head I am not giving up. No way am I going to stop and walk, or stop and go home, no matter how inviting that couch seems.
Bring on Friday.

Hahaaa!! You only run in the daylight in the town I live in.... Unless you are being chased by the police 😂Its raining now and I have finished work, the temptation to have a cider is stronger than the desire to run!
I remember the W4R1 being the toughest of the whole program for me (except maybe getting myself out of the door for W1R1, but that was a mental test, not physical!). It's such a jump up from the previous week, and at the end of the second 5 min section I felt like I was almost running on the spot, I was going that slowly. But I think it's the week that teaches you that slowish pace that you can keep going at, and once you've got that the following weeks are a mental hurdle, not so much a physical one. Onwards and upwards, and good luck!
Hi. Yeah I think your spot on about nailing down the pace in Week 4. If I do what I did in W4R1, on R2 tonight I should be ok, just gotta drink enough etc today. W3, even though I got through it I think I was going to fast. Mentally I will be fine. I will bring my gamer mind across to running. Not quiting, repetition..... doing the same thing over any period of time to obtain a goal are skills which should help 😜🙏🙏🙏
The mental battle is much greater than the physical one from W5 onwards I'd say, so if you have that sorted you'll do great! It's amazing how quickly you go from feeling that 5 minutes is a real challenge to 'only' 5 minutes left at the end of a run, and I say that as somebody for whom the 90secs was a challenge for at the start.
