Never underestimate the importance of a good pair of trainers. I have had tight calves for most of the 9 week (took me more like 16 weeks) programme. I have been trying to get my consolidation runs in when mini disaster struck and I pulled a calf muscle, had to take 2 weeks off to rest it, during those 2 weeks I realised that my old faithful Asics are very old so I upgraded (sticking with Asics). First run today, which I was very worried about incase I was trying to run too soon and I felt like I could run a marathon! What a difference! Why didn't I think to get new trainers a few weeks ago! So I don't usually have much advice to give but I wanted to share what I have learnt these last few weeks, if you are struggling with niggly pains etc. that you haven't had before, it might just be your trainers ๐ (sorry for the long post but I am just so happy to be back!) p.s. I also do pre and post stretches which help alot.
New Trainers saved the day!!: Never... - Couch to 5K
New Trainers saved the day!!
Looking good ! Here's to many happy miles in them ๐๐
Iโve ran weeks 1-6 so far in vans, my skins, knees ankles all hurt so bad. Iโm glad I saw this post, Iโve been tempted to invest in some running shoes but Iโm always put off by the expense. I will definitely look to get some proper trainers this week hearing your story! Thanks for sharing โบ๏ธ
they don't have to be expensive shoes, I did couch to 5K and the bridge to 10k in Decathlon own brand, I think they cost me 35โฌ.
They are "proper" running shoes, not made for very long distances at a time, but fine for running in. I would at least check them out before spending a fortune if money is a factor.
Oh lovely!! Yes I am hoping to go for a gait analysis and get some new trainers. The pre and post run stretches really make a difference to my recovery after each run. I also do yoga Iโve never been as fit itโs all becoming addictive and I love it !
oooh, love some shoe porn
well done on your run
