Well done to you on reaching week 3 of C25K, no, I don't think that many people doing C25K sit down all day watching Netflix or something similar like computer games etc, on their non running days, they get outside and go walks, some exercise inside with various videos on YouTube, so keep exercises going on your non running days.
😂😂😂 I didn’t think people would be watching Netflix! I was looking for a strengthening programme like suggested by lanastarer... the NHS Strength and Flex programme sounds terrific . I’m working too so I do some rest!
Hi Chishawasha, I started off by doing the NHS Strength and Flex programme. If you read the C25K guidance it suggests that you opt for this parallel programme to help support muscle growth, but also flex muscles during the rest day. It is a really nice, gently programme and I never found it challenging. I found all the equipment I needed in the local park, and there are videos to show what each exercise should look like. When I got to Weeks 5-6 of C25K I opted to get some guidance from a personal coach on stepping-up from Strength and Flex to help me with the final bit of C25K. This was purely a personal choice, and most of those who complete the programme don't do this. I just did it for personal reasons, and because I want to aim for a half-marathon by the end of 2021. So, think about Strength and Flex for the rest days. You won't regret it.
I didn’t do a whole lot 🤣
On some non-running days I just have a normal day as my job is very busy and I just can’t fit anything else in! On one day I go for a walk with my hubby, one day I do some strength training with hand weights and stretchy bands and I do a 1 hour online Pilates class one evening a week. Some days I do have a lazy day but it doesn’t happen very often! A rest day just means a non-running day.
I only do nothing at all if I'm injured or feeling yuk.
Mostly, I make sure I do a short walk of about half an hour if I haven't done anything else.
Just head over the the S and Forum here... loads of ideas for some of your rest days... and strength and stamina work is really beneficial!CBDB had out together an amazing supportive programme of exercise ... although.. a proper rest day is always in order!

Thanks!! I agree I need some rest but the forum for strength and flex looks good. It’s really necessary I think
So helpful ... and loads of useful links ..including posts from me too healthunlocked.com/strength...
Yes, feel invited to head over to where we have quite a nice group of Virtual Workout Bodies! (VWBs). And the original S&F programme that @Oldfloss linked to is great for getting used to having workouts embedded into your weekly life. It certainly did the trick for me!
Many of us also do a daily yoga and there are also more intermediate level sessions as well. In fact, we just embarked on a 2-week challenge to complete all 5 intermediate NHS focussed workouts!
See you over there!
Play the piano. I meant to say : 2 hours of strength and flex.
Playing the piano sounds great .... if I could! 😂
