Morning all my partner wants to start running and wants me to go with him. As he will be starting from week 1 will I be able to run with him and then do my own running the next day? Or do I still have to have a rest day in between runs?

Running days
Hi there...that is great news!
You are a really new Graduate and the same rules for rest days apply.
So;
At the start of him doing the plan it may seem no problem but as the runs get longer...
Why not, head out together, run his run with him as your warm up, certainly until the runs get longer and then take your rest days together, with obviously do some strength and stamina work on those days too
As his run times increase, you can still run together on routes maybe, but you head off at your own pace and then come back to meet him halfway
Your newly forming running legs still need to build. and those days are precious healing time for the micro tears... and we do advise not consecutive days running until you have run for at least one year. ( Many of us did not start running on consecutive days until after two years running
I think you will find a way that works
Hi Oldfloss, is the strength and stamina work just for graduates or something I should be doing as I work my way through the programme? Thanks, NM
Oldfloss has come up with the reply I was going to give , so I will just say well done you for impressing your partner so much that they want to do this runny thing too. It’s a great thing to do together.
Aw thanks, don’t know how we will get on, he is quite bossy 🤣🤣
Good luck! I tried it once.... then told him it was my journey and if he wanted to do it he should do it his own way! 🤣🤣🤣 be careful you don't feel pushed to try and keep the same pace, longer legs have a natural advantage 👍🏻
My OH accompanied me when I was doing C25K. I had the earphones in and he was there to carry my water and follow my lead. The person learning should have all the support from Michael Johnson or whoever. You might have to try the slow and steady mantra, as the male species seems to think that slow running is not macho. Good luck
