Hello all, I'm new here (well been lurking for a while but enjoying reading everyone's advice and experiences, and wanted to now share my own!). I started C25K back in January this year but haven't always been able to keep to the every other day set up the programme asks us to aim for. So I am a little behind but still a lot further ahead than I would have been, had I not started at all!
Just finished the 3rd run of week 5 (20 mins run) and I can't believe I did it! I feel like there was some mistake, no way have I just run for 20 min straight (albeit rather slowly).. but I have! I feel brilliant. I run around my local park which has some brutal hills, and 5 weeks (ish) ago I never thought I could make it up the first one and still carry on without any sort of break. But here I am!
It was tough and I know from here it will challenge me more and more, but I'm really enjoying it It is definitely a mental challenge as well as a physical one. Big respects to everyone else who is doing/has done this!

Well done. I've just run W5R2. While I didn't have any problem with either of the 8 minute runs. The thought of upping that to 20 minutes on Friday is still somewhat daunting.
Well done ! I found it daunting too and wasn't sure I'd get there, but it was ok in the end just keep going.. you have to believe you can, you got this far and you will! I think if you were fine with the second run you will have no worries for the 3rd, just keep doing what you do! Good luck with yours
Well done I am 2 runs behind you & also live in an hilly area, it’s an achievement to get up them without having to walk/run. I have planned my 20 minutes run on a local cycle/jogging trail that doesn’t have any hills just a gentle incline.
Thats a good idea! I would like to find some other routes myself, the change of scenery would probably be nice as well. Well done to you too, we are over half way! Good luck
Well done Tanooki that week 5 3rd run is a huge landmark 👍
Well done! It's a fantastic feeling As a recent survivor of it, let me just warn you that next weeks first run is tougher than it looks, but you can do it. Just take it slow! It may be less running time, but you've still 4 minutes more work to do in it. Relax into it and you won't get caught like I nearly was. Enjoy your triumph and the smiles it brings as you think of it throughout the day!
Thank you! Yes it really does feel good, I do feel like I achieved something! Yes I admit looking at week 6 after running 20 mins seems easier than it probably actually is, and like you say it is longer too. Also I find it harder to get back going again after the walking breaks, so thanks a lot for the heads up I will take your advice for sure Good luck to you too!!
Well done! Glad we both made it then. I hope it wasn't too bad, but in adversity it must feel even more of an achievement. Mine was super windy this morning, kept blowing me off course and making it harder to breathe! *shakes fist at wind*
I also did week 5, run 3 today, like you I couldn’t believe I actually ran for 20 minutes non stop when I couldn’t even run for a bus before 😂 It’s definitely training your mind, you have to believe in yourself, I felt so proud afterwards. Week 6; ready for you!
Well done you! I know I was the same, running for bus was about my limit🤣 Look at us now! We are doing so so well Week 6, tomorrow I think!! Good luck to you!
I was thinking these very things myself during the week. It's helped me in other areas of my life as well for sure.
Hi Tanooki, just wanted to say well done.I started back in January to and not been able to do it without repeating runs but it doesn't matter. As long as your feeling better and enjoying it it's a win 😁👍
Exactly that, don't worry if you are repeating runs you're still doing it! We are doing this for ourselves and the main thing is we are enjoying it , challenging ourselves and having some fun along the way good luck !!
