This is my first blog, although I have been enjoying reading & commenting on lots of others.
So here I am week 5 already, just finished run 2 & those two 8 minute runs & feeling pretty good about myself, a rather fit looking male runner said 'hello' this morning which was nice. Yet despite all my achievements these last few weeks I still find myself nervous about run 3 - when I heard Laura say it would be 20 mins non-stop my first thought was she out of her mind? ME?? 20 mins??? Without stopping???? I know I have to make the break into proper 'grown up' runs at some point - but from 8 mins to 20?
I have a 'sort of' plan - this Friday at 8.12 am we will have the Olympic bell ringing, I'm going to time my run to coincide with this & hope it distracts me/helps me run like the clappers... Citius, Altius, Fortius (faster, higher, stronger)... well, that's the plan anyway...
Anyone else planning to be out there running to the sound of the bells?

You will be absolutely fine-I did not sleep very well the day before W5R3 and I was so anxious as if I was going for exams but trust the programme and more so trust yourself, you will do just fine. Good luck - not that you need it
I agree with everything you and devanski have said I was terrified and excited before run 3 as are most other people who have gone before you.
I remember getting to 10 and thinking that's longer than I have ran before but as you listen to Laura she just seems to carry you through and then you realise you have done it.
I also worked myself up about run 3 but actually it was ok. Go easy on the pace and justthink it's only 2 x 10 min runs with no break in the middle. It'll be over befor eyou know it.
I don't see it as going from 8 mins to 20, I see it as going from 16 to 20, and just not having the break. Much less intimidating that way. I'm doing week 5 run 2 this evening, and will have run 3 to look forward to on Friday (assuming all goes to plan this evening). I definitely WON'T be getting up to run at 8.12am though! Not a morning runner (too dehydrated in the mornings), and I have a day off anyway, so I'll be having a lie-in.
But enjoy your run to the bell (what is the Olympic bell??), and good luck with it!
I did week 5 run 1 Yesterday and by the end of the last 5 minute run I was willing laura to say stop! I can't see myself being able to do 20 minutes nonstop, but then I was saying "I can't see myself running 5 minutes" the other week so hopefully it will be ok!
Thanks everyone for your encouragement, it gives me a boost to read your words of wisdom (I like the 2 x20 mins, 16 to 20 perspective) - had the best compliment today from a colleague who said she drove past me yesterday & vaguely thought what a fit looking runner I was & then she realised it was me & did a double take. I have to keep going after a comment like that!
I thought everyone knew about the Olympic bell ringing, here's a link for those that don't:
If you live anywhere near a participating church it might just disturb your lie-in Svenena, anyone can join in though - bike bells, hand bells, anything that rings....
Good luck to everyone, especially my fellow week fivers - I know what you mean about willing Laura to say stop Marnsta, I previewed run 3 last night & disliked some of the music so much (rap style - gahhh!) I've made my own play-list to fit the 20 minute run so I'll only hear Laura in the warm up/cool down.
