I'm so happy that I've completed week 5, didn't think I'd be able to run for 20 minutes in one go - but I did! Next week I'm looking forward to running week 6 in new waterproof trainers from Merrel, which means I'll get home with dry feet for a change.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

The problem with waterproof shoes is that they don't let the water back out if you stand in a puddle, as we all do. Give me well draining shoes any day.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

That’s the great thing about this programme. No one thinks they can run for 20 minutes without stopping, until they actually do it.

Just trust the programme, it really does work.
