What a beautiful evening for a run. It’s been a long and tiring day - I usually work a four day week and have Fridays off but there were some urgent things which needed doing today so I said I’d log on. The first took a mere four hours or so, but at least the second was quick. And my best friend is in hospital having an operation which wasn’t planned until yesterday. So yeah. One of Those Days.
Teen 2 persuaded me to play a bit of Just Dance with them, and I decided that could serve as a gentle warm-up, so after about 2 mins of that I decided to get changed and head out. And I’m so glad I did! The joys of village life mean that even though I went out at about 5pm, there was no one around and only a couple of cars even, so I had time and space for me.
And while running I got to noticing things: the last few snowdrops are drifting away, but there are clouds of purple, yellow, and white crocuses replacing them. The hawthorn hedge has new leaves starting to add a splash of bright green to the ends of the twigs, primulas are shining gently on the grassy banks, and a few clumps of daffodils are already blooming! And over it all, a bright moon is smiling down from a sky gradually darkening from bright blue through peachy pink to evening blue.
There’s not much to say about the running really - it happened, I kept going, I did it! And I’ve come home more at peace than I’ve felt all day. *This* is why I keep on trying to be a runner!
