Just starting Couch to 5k and its snowed!

Advice please. I started couch to 5k on Sunday. After suffering with Fibromyalgia for over 10 years, always having an injury of some sort, ankles and knees and now getting over COVID, I'm taking charge of my health. I have lost 2 stone since the first lockdown and feel ready to start becoming more active. So today should be my 2nd day and there is snow, I see many people run in the snow and I'm fearful of falling or slipping and causing injury. How do you all run in the snow without falling on your backside ? 😁

Snow isn’t slippy if it’s still fresh

Ice is slippy

Thank you. I shall check the path to see if there is ice under the snow as its currently -2 and give it a go 👍

Ideally wear trail shoes but I don’t suppose you have any as yet.

No not yet. Just normal trainers. I shall have a look at them. Thank you

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

As Tasha99 says, snow is not that slippery. It is ice you need to avoid and if you are not confident then it is probably best to miss the run.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Well done SJBUTTERFLY on starting C25k and your 2 stone weight loss. 👏🏻👏🏻Personally where I am the pavements have been a bit treacherous, so I’m waiting for the rain to wash it all away. Not worth getting injured for the sake of a few days. Maybe go out for a walk instead, you could check out some potential routes for future runs. Good Luck 👍

Thank you so much. I am lucky to have paths and fields near me. So I will venture for a walk and see what it is like 👍
