Dear Lord! I've done my first 'run' and survived. However I just cannot jog or trot and I did try. There were terrible grindings and 'movements' inside my right knee and my left knee just collapsed. Sooo instead of running I am walking faster. My current 'brisk' walking speed is the treadmill at 3.7 and my 'running' speed is the treadmill at 4.7 although I did lower it a bit on the last few runs to 4.5 occasionally. But I'm nicely warmed up and have a healthy glow and feeling pretty positive that this is something I can maintain. Oh and the distance I did was about 1.6KM

well done on your first run ! I started on Saturday , good luck with it all 👍
Well done.
It sounds as if you would benefit from doing the leg and knee strengthening exercises in the guide to the plan. If your knee really did collapse.....we get used to hyperbole on this forum......then maybe you have a structural issue that needs addressing before you go any further.
Sharp pain down the outer side of the knee and then it just 'went' buckled inwards! I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and have 'boney spurs' Doctors advice is that it will help if I build up the strength in my muscles to better support the knees. I have been doing some squats in the past few weeks which I think is helping. He has also talked of knee replacements but I really do not want that as I am convinced I can greatly improve things by more exercise - I've lost over 8 stone in weight too with more to go.
I would recommend you stick to walking for the moment and build up your muscle strength to make sure your knees are adequately supported by muscle. nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/k...
It is possible to overcome knee problems, as I can personally vouch for, so don't give up.
Well done. As the old adage goes " you have got to learn to walk before you can run" so build up your walking. I walk the Moors every week but running was something different. Get some distance on the treadmill then do the same on some gentle Downs. Once your walking is easy then perhaps you can run. Good man. Keep it up.
