Run tall

I’ve just been for a 5k run and was struggling as it didn’t feel like I could get enough air into my lungs. I got to my last half a mile and started to run with my back straight, shoulders back and head up. I’ve just realised that for the past 9 months I’ve probably been running quite scrunched up!! Anyway, just thought I’d post this as it really helped my breathing when I ran with my head held high and my running felt easier too 😊🏃‍♀️💪🏻

So true! I always have to make a conscious effort with my posture anyway cos of being tall, just got to do it whilst running now too 😂😊

A bent neck restricts your windpipe...........

The more tired I get the more I slouch down.Have to make conscious effort sometimes to lift my posture.

It improves the running considerably.

It’s so true. I guess we are always learning how we can improve on those runs 😊😊

I struggled yesterday too but put it down to Christmas excesses and the cold. I find as soon as the cold air hits my lungs it's more difficult. Good point about posture, I will try it 👍

That's really good advice! I've just done W4R1 and really struggled with the last 5 minutes of running, I think I'm concentrating so hard on my speed and hoping that my coach will say that I've finished I forget about my breathing!! I'll think about my posture for my next session!

When you realise what is happening and start running tall with shoulders back and head up your breathing improves considerably.

It sure does! It’s only taken me ten months to discover that 😂😂

Yeh even though we try to clear our mind whilst running, it seems like we are having to keep telling ourselves lots of things to make the run easier but I guess in time we will get better at running and it will all come naturally 😊
