Half a beach run.

Firstly apologies for the late season's greetings & only catching up with all your amazing parkruns & photos. I'm afraid I slept in & missed both that I'd thought of as an option - so neither happened!

Today I decided to head to the local beach & just run. Of I went - it was beautiful & brilliant to run on a virtually deserted beach, beside the great waves of the Atlantic. Three wee streams to cross - no worries, socks became warm & shoes dried out fairly quickly. Listened to a podcast (spoken, nothing to do with running) felt I could run all day ..... until I turned to come back.

Whilst I'd been running the wind had picked up .... and up ..... and up! The sand was blowing into my eyes, the wind was so strong that every spit landed 5 meters behind me!

When the hail started I finally admitted defeat & walked the last 2k home. walking through streams is a lot more painful than running through them!!! (It was also frustrating as it would have been a 7k run, instead it was probably 4.5 / 5 plus a VERY long walk😞)

Happy running everyone!

Ooh I can smell the sea! That looks beautiful and I can see your footprints in the sand. Gorgeous photo.

Thanks! It's one of my favourite places - I've often walked it, but never run it. (Lol at least this time, I've run it one way!)

Indeed! I was thinking on the way out how lucky I was to have nice firm sand, it was a pleasure. The wind changed my mind on the way back!!!

Oh me oh my, that looks like heaven. 😊 Ok, maybe not the hail, πŸ€” but look at that light you have captured on the right, lighting up the sky, and the footprints πŸ‘£ are brilliant. Well done you! πŸ‘πŸ» Tough running in sand. πŸ’ͺ🏻 I did a beach boot camp the year before last, jolly hard work it was too! πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ» πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Thanks - honestly it's a photographer's paradise as well. Being on the north coast the light is constantly changing.πŸ“·πŸ˜€

The firm sand was great - it was just the other elements!!!! πŸ’¨

It is amazing!😊

This is going from Benone beach to Downhill. The wee building is the Mussendem Temple. Part of the north coast of Northern Ireland.

The long walk back often happens but never mind 😊 What led up to it was good so take that as a positive, and you got to lie in πŸ˜ƒ

Exactly! πŸ˜€ I hope to try it again before I leave on Sunday ..... if the wind stays down!

I love the North coast of Northern Ireland - not been quite that far west but Portstewart/Portrush area is magnificent

I once got a car stuck in the sand at Port Stewart, as the tide was coming in...

but otherwise I agree. It really is magnificent!

I am just having a quick cuppa between cleaning before the influx of more family arriving, and just saw a runner going past. I missed my run yesterday so am champing at the bit to get out. Bah!

Bed making, laundry, cleaning the goddam cooker, hoovering. My husband has evaporated again 😳

Hmmm sun out. Stuff it! I'm off. πŸ˜„

Windy weather is my least favourite running condition. It does one's head in

Brilliant photo and post ! Really jealous. When visit Family we often go to that coastline. Must admit the long stretches of beach can be really exposed.

Fortunately usually go Easter or Summertime. But it's a lovely area anytime. Brings back good memories . I'd rather run there than up and down my canal !

Anyway I digress. Great run and good on you battling the elements.

It really is an amazing coastline isn't it? Even today I found a walk that I'd never done before (beyond the temple!)

Have you ever done the Parkrun at Portrush? It's on the beach - I would love to try it sometime.
