January Is a RED January with a little Xtra

β€’41 Replies

This time last year give or take a day or two, I'd just graduated from the ranks of C25k πŸ€—. The whole running-walking thing the leaving intervals behind, arriving at that final week is still as fresh now, as it was then. It's been a year of discovery, where did I like running, how far, what times of day suited my lifestyle. The dressing disasters, too many layers, not enough, the dreaded 🌧️🌧️🌧️ I can't run in the rain yak!

Fast forward rain I love it, wind is definitely worse, as my esteemed colleague on the admin team IannodaTruffe keeps mentioning skins waterproof, he's correct, when your wet your not getting any wetter! I've still to discover loads more, after all a year doesn't make an expert, but I know more now, than this time last yearπŸ‘. Advice of forum users, park runs other runners on the towpath, it's all beneficial. Listen and learn you'll not go far wrong.

This January is purely for 5k Running, hopefully it I've not bitten off more than I can chew, 31 days for the month 5k a day.

Ok so I ran on new year's Eve πŸ™„. That'd make 32 runs, but for my reasons I like 33 moreso so here we go 🀞

160 kilometers is equal to running 32/5K runs, I wish you the best of luck.

in reply to AlMorr

Cheers Almor I've clocked 158klms last April so fingers crossed the legs will have the energy and enthusiasm, and the nightshifts will be kind 🀞

Good luck Imc! That’s a tough target you’re setting yourself, but I don’t doubt that you can do it.

What a year you’ve had, though! Truly a year of discovery. 😊

Every day I've ran it's been a brilliant day Jools2020, and looking forward to a year with slightly more experience, excites me πŸ€—.

But I get just as much of a buzz when a new runner finishes C25k πŸ™‚

For me, the biggest buzz is if someone tells me I’ve inspired them. That’s the icing on the cake!

in reply to Jools2020

Oh Jools2020 the taste of that cake is unequalled πŸ€—

That’s a great New Years resolution, I looked at your photo first and wondered if I’d slept through Sunday, it wouldn’t have surprised me πŸ˜€Enjoy your 5k a day runs, mind you at your speed it’s easier to fit them in , my slow ones are around 50 minutes and fastest 40 mins

Wishing you strong legs this month

I’ve also just finished watching β€˜Scott of the Antarctic’ , talk about goals! Brave men.

in reply to Indielass00

Those chaps definitely didn't feel the cold πŸ₯Ά

Scott was brave but a fool. Shackleton, on the other hand, was a true hero.

I watched the one about Shackleton many years ago with Kenneth Branagh. Was very good.

You have a goal that you can aim for and if for some reason you don't achieve your aim you will not have failed. Failure is not having the goal in the first place. Good Luck πŸ‘

Congratulations on your one year anniversary and hope you enjoy the January challenge !!! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Rain, WOW! I always check Accuweather to prevent the rain! 🀣🀣

in reply to limu_mu

Do you not run in the rain limu_mu?

limu_mu profile image
limu_muGraduate in reply to

No, am petrified of the rain!I leave the house with two rain coats and a waterproof hat and time my runs accordingly. πŸ˜‚ I don't know why am scared of the rain. It's lame, I know but 😳.

in reply to limu_mu

A lil secret limu_mu I completed my C25k without any real rainπŸ™‚ I didn't experience rain, the thought of it would after graduating, I'd go later or the next dayπŸ‘ then during a run the heavens opened down it came, soaked to the skin and some πŸ™„. It's kinda moriah I'd heard IannodaTruffe mention skins waterproof 🧐, that chap knows his stuff, we are waterproof, and we dry, you really should try it next downpour get out there!!

limu_mu profile image
limu_muGraduate in reply to

Good point, skin is waterproof, yeap IannodaTruffe has some good points.... The toxic10 as stuck

I'll follow your lead Hidden and wait for the heavens to open....πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Cool I'll await feedback β˜‚οΈπŸ‘

Very interesting, to hear your one year story, good luck with your 5k jan, sounds a tough one, it's funny, i was going to ask, at what stage/time running, etc, is it advisable, to run consecutive days? πŸ€”
