I've recently been fitted with hearing aids, everything is fine with them - but I'm wondering what to do about music while I'm running....I obviously can't wear earbuds, or probably bone conducting headphones...I believe there is some kind of blue tooth streaming device (maybe called Roger?) that will stream music from my phone to my aids - anyone got experience of this? Or any other advice?
Anyone running with hearing aids?: I've recently... - Couch to 5K
Anyone running with hearing aids?
Bone conducting earphones might work, as the hearing aids may pick up the magnetic field when on their T setting.
I don't have the expertise but I hope you can find yourself the answer and the motivational support of music in addition to your augmented hearing.

My mum had a gadget that transmitted the TV sound to her hearing aids, but I'm afraid I don't know exactly how it worked, though I imagine it was Bluetooth. Have you asked the hearing aid fitter (is the correct term audiologist)?
Hi Curlygurly2 I wear hearing aids normally. I did ask the audiologist once about aids and listening to music while I’m out & about and she said to try it with one aid in and one earbud or whatever in the other ear. I don’t wear my aids when I’m running actually, just like loudish music to motivate me, but depending on your level of hearing you could try with just one aid. Good Luck...oh and Merry Christmas.
I also have hearing aids and haven’t found an answer to this problem. I either wear the aids and listen to nature, or don’t and listen to music/podcasts. I think someone did mention a device that can be used I’m sorry but can’t remember what it was called, but when I investigated it wouldn’t work with my hearing aids. Obviously the world thinks people who are deaf and people who run are mutually exclusive,!!!😂 Luckily I still have most of my hearing, so going without is not a total disaster.
There is a device called a Roger pen, that acts as an amplifier, but I think it's more intended for social situations and for the tv at home. It may work outdoors? I too am an aid wearer, but manage without them. I have found bone conducting Aftershoks much more effective than ear buds. I couldn't hear podcasted speech with buds, but can with Aftershoks. That said that may well depend on the individual and the level of hearing loss. I was allowed to try Aftershoks in Cotswold Sports.I hope you find something that works for you!
That's interesting about the Aftershocks, thank you. Do you use them with your aids or without? Hopefully I'll get a chance to give them a try when the shops open again. x
Hi Curlygurly2, I have two hearing aids, the behind the ear type, and living in a village, where I am out in the countryside within minutes, the lanes are quite narrow, and traffic often use the byways, anglers mainly being close to the river Trent. I tried Bluetooth ear phones that would fit my ears, but the trouble was I couldn’t hear traffic! I recently invested in Aftershokz, bone conduction. I got the expensive Areopex ones as that are recommended for people wearing glasses, being lighter. Problem solved! I can now hear traffic, music and audio prompts. Also great for listening to various tutorials or whatever on my laptop if my partner is reading or watching TV.
A big thank you to everyone that replied,. I finally bit the bullet and got some AfterShokz Air, I got to try them with my hearing aids and they work really well. They work well without the aids too, I can still hear traffic etc. Very happy with them
