This is hard work, why do I keep making excusess and talking myself out of it. I am on week 3 but have only walked. Do you think I should start all over and do the running, or just continue. . .🙃🙂😃
Do I start over.: This is hard work, why do I... - Couch to 5K
Do I start over.
Perhaps start building that running in with sections of walking you'll add stamina as you progress
Thank you. I will give it a try.
So you haven't tried to jog at all? You're finding the walking hard work, yes? Just want to understand your issues.
I haven't tried to jog, not sure I have the energy to do so . My diet is rubbish am a smoker and am just not motivated.
So there's a few issues there. You're not motivated to do what?
Why have you chosen C25K?
I would certainly say try to introduce some jogging mixed in with your walking.
There has to be a want to change, to run, to get fitter, to get healthier. That has to come from you. I’m not trying to be hard on you but we all can suggest a million and one things but unless the want is there from your side they fall on deaf ears.
Motivation will grow once you’ve got the want too attitude and you achieve some small goals. Maybe for now just continue your walking adding a little more distance each week to build stamina. Concentrate on the things you can change in the short term.
By the way my diet was rubbish when I started C25k but I was able to do something about it because I wanted too.
I’m a smoker, I don’t want to do anything about that just yet so I have left it alone, but I regularly run 3-4 times a week, 30minute runs and 5k runs taking 38minutes and I suffer with MS so if I can you can I’m sure.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do, you can do it just believe in yourself, believe in the plan, and decide what it is you want to achieve.
I’m new to this too, never jogged in my life but I’ve just completed my first 3 sessions of couch to 5k! I’m finding it hard too, I have two knee replacements and I have asthma so find it difficult to control my breathing! I never thought I could jog but I’m doing, even if it is slow, I’m proud of myself! What do you think will motivate you?
Did you just walk in weeks 1 and 2, too?
If that's the case, you probably want to do a short pre-C25K programme. Maybe use the first few weeks of C25K as a fast walk/slow walk session, then go back to the start and do the intended jog/walk combinations?
Pretty much everyone had a hard time doing the runs in week 1, myself included.
Thank you for the comments, I do need to focus more on what am thinking about before writing on here lol.
I know everyone is different and I don't know your circumstances but I was the girl who hated PE and couldn't even run to catch a bus! I honestly didn't know if I would be able to run at all but I wanted to give it a go. I have just done run 2 of week 5 and I am loving it. I decided to do cto5k during the second lockdown as I had reached a really low point. I was depressed and I wasn't coping with life at all and as a mum of 2 that was hard. I cannot believe what a difference it has made to me already. My mood and wellbeing has been lifted completely. But I think you have got to want to do it. I would personally start from the beginning and just go for it. You can repeat weeks if you don't feel ready to move on to the next. Also I used the app and I find it really encouraging having my chosen trainer with me every week, I chose Sarah Millican. I really hope you find your pace and motivation, really rooting for you 🙏 ❤
Hi, sorry to read you are struggling with the plan. I would recommend that you read the guide from IannodaTruffe , one of the C25k administrators (click the link below). It is invaluable reading and full of advice to get you back on track. It will also answer all your questions. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
As you have been unable to complete any of the run sections on the C25k plan so far, I would suggest that you put the plan on hold for the time being and instead spend time going for 30 minute walks first to build up both your strength and stamina.
The benefits of the plan are amazing, so I do hope you stick with it. Good luck.
While walking is great, if you've not done any jogging or running when you're supposed to in Weeks 1 or 2, then I genuinely don't see how you can say you're doing C25K.
The aim of the programme is to complete three 30-minute runs in Week 9. You can jog or run really slowly, but not just walk.
If you're really not motivated to run, then don't. Walk instead, or cycle, or swim, or do something else to get moving. Doing C25k is a choice, not an obligation.
If you're motivated to run, then follow the fab advice others have already given, maybe starting off with walking. Then, yes, start C25K again, and jog or run when you're supposed to.
I hope you'll find an activity that motivates you, whether it's C25k or something else.
