The impact of running is what is causing the issues..........so do all you can to minimise it by by slowing down, shortening stride to avoid heelstrike, running on grass or treadmill, wearing proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis.Adequate hydration, as mentioned in the guide to the plan, makes sure that your joints are fully lubricated and your cartilage is as spongy and shock absorbing as possible.
Knee strengthening exercises (links in guide) will develop your supporting musculature and reduce the risk of pain and injury. Stretching after every run will also help pull out tensions in muscles which can affect your joints............it's all in the guide to the plan.
