W2R2 Not improving on distance

As recommended I slowed down a bit from W2R1 as I was struggling - it felt better running (although tired) and had more stamina, but I'm disappointed not to have made more progress in distance - anyone else experience that? Also I cannot breathe in for 4 paces as suggested I just don't seem to have the lung capacity. I comfortable can manage 2 paces on in and 2 paces on out - is that OK? Feeling a little heavy and dejected at such little progress (although definitely improvement on W1) but I'm gonna keep it up...

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

There is no need to be concerned about distance or pace........ C25K is solely duration based.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration, breathing and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

I can’t do the breathing over 4 paces either, but I’ve just managed my 20 minute week 5 run, so I guess it really doesn’t matter that much! And distance and pace don’t either - they’ll improve eventually.

Well done, keep it slow and steady.

I can't breathe in for 4 steps either and I'm on Week 9 Run 3 tomorrow! Baby steps at a time - be patient. Listen to others and read their experiences. As IannodaTruffe says it's duration based to build your stamina. When I first started I couldn't even complete Week 1 Run 1 and I'm still really slow but my stamina is getting much better and I'm feeling healthier.
