Improving and started tackling 'hills'.

I've now done 4 x 25 minute runs, whoop whoop, and to think 2 weeks ago i was scared of 20 minutes! I'm glad to say I am improving, covering more distance/getting fitter. Though you'd not notice it today.

The first 25 minute run (W6R3) covered 3.5Km, second (W7R1) was 3.71K and 3rd was 3.74K, a little bit more each time. Run 4, this morning was 3.67K. Now you may think that's less, but I was running along the local roads rather than heading up to the aerodrome. The aerodrome is all bar flat, I travel up about 5m over about 1Km up there, with 2 parts dropping the 5m. This morning I ran through 38m of up over about 1.5Km, so there was a fair bit more up. No where near as much as if I decide just to go out for a run about locally, but it's a start.

There was something left to run faster during the last minute today and last Friday but I can't say I'm looking forward to the extra 3 minutes on Wednesday.

Well done you! It makes such a difference where you run, I reckon it's best to choose an area you know is good for you. My first W8 run I really didn't notice the three more minutes and then I very stupidly went on an untried track for W8 which included a tarmac road which I'm not supposed to run on because of my back... finished the run but it was WAY more difficult and I've stuck to my nice flattish soft woods ever since.

I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine on W8 - six more runs to go!

That should be untried track for R2

I'm all on tarmac normally (apart from the bit of gravel), but today's run had a short section, about 1Km, that was through the woods. I don't know how you guys do it, the dodging round tree roots and holes (plus puddles if it had rained earlier than it did) really put me off my stride. I definitely prefer the hard stuff!

:-) me too in a different context...

It's the roots and the holes and the puddles and the slugs and the blown-down branches on the trail and the conkers and the old beer bottles and the sheer mud that make it so interesting :-)

And the weather! Don't forget the weather. It's bound to slow you down. You've done really well and I KNOW you are ready for that extra 3 minutes! I know it!
