So after taking a week off C25K because of shin splints, I decided to jump back in from where I stopped, starting with run 1 week 7. A week ago I managed to run the 25 minutes of run 3 week 6 ok so I thought that I would be able to do it again today. Well I was wrong ! After running 10 minutes I couldn’t go any longer and decided to walk for 5 minutes, I then ran for 5 again, walked for 5 and then ran another 5, running a total of 25 minutes but with intervals. I didn’t want to run just 10 minutes then go home. I wanted to at least run the 25 minutes. I know that I stopped but I didn’t give up. Is this bad? ....
Week 7 Run 1, what a nightmare... : So after... - Couch to 5K
Week 7 Run 1, what a nightmare...
You did well. You've built up your time with intervals. There's nothing wrong with that. Good on you.
You ran. You didn't do the run you set out to do, but that's OK. The day after tomorrow is another day.
Don’t worry Georgia - we all have off days and hard runs!
You did well to get back out there after a break and do a run even if it wasn’t the one you intended.
What made you stop? If it was pain in your shins maybe rest up some more! But if it was just aches/tiredness then after another rest day (or two) go out and try again (slowly and hydrated!).
If you still struggle remember you can always repeat earlier runs to build yourself back up to the 25mins. You’ve got this, don’t be too hard on yourself ☺️🏃🏼♀️
The fact you didn’t give up completely makes it a good run. You will have read that we can all have off days.... maybe today was just that. Stay focused, stay determined. You are doing fantastic 😊
Hi there. You had an interval run...that's not bad at all!!...that's just an interval run. You carried on despite comparing this to the same run last week.👏👏👏 I know you've got a busy job also...all contributing factors. Please don't beat yourself up...you were out there for 25 mins. Hope your shins are okay??? Take it easy.🙋🙋🙋
No worries G We are humans, not machines. Some days it just doesn't go like we think it "should"
There have been days I felt fine, looked forward to the run, but shortly into it - I just "don't want to do it anymore".
Never been able to figure it, but it happens
Important thing is - go out the next time. I never gave up a good habit "today". I was always going to do it again 'tomorrow'
Of course, tomorrow being the day after next activity day - it would never arrive.
You'll be fine - and wishing you many happy miles in your future
