Week 7 run 1- what a disaster!

Found it so so difficult for this run that I only managed 20 of the 25 minutes :(

I was struggling with my breathing and my feet and back were aching more than they usually do. I kept telling myself to keep going but it was almost like I was having a panic attack, I couldn’t control my breathing! So I decided to just stop and walk it off.

Find it strange as I managed to do the full 25 minutes of week 6 run 3.

Do you think I should repeat week 6? Or should I just try this run again in a few days?

Oh no! But that’s fine with. Forget about that. Redo the run after your rest days. You still ran for 20 mins, look at the positive. I did the week 7 run 2 yesterday and really struggled. But run 1 I was full of confidence! Some days just don’t go our way. You’re still going miles compared to those on the couch! Xx

We all have bad runs. It's not really a fail if you went running for 20 minutes, despite feeling yuck.

Put it down to experience and redo in a couple of days. If you were hyperventilating (which is what it sounds like), you are DEFINITELY going too fast.

Onwards and upwards!

Yesterday was a really hot day. On Monday I managed 10K and yesterday it was only just 5. Running in the heat makes all the difference I think. Well done for doing 20 minutes though. Try again in a few days. Try and get out early and try to forget about this one. Good luck. 😁

Well done first!

Slow down... then slow down more... do try to relax. Warm up for longer and then just head out. The new running legs know what to do...just let them.

These are strange times and I do feel many of us may be a little more tense, even subconsciously , when we run..I know I am... so look around, take it very gently and enjoy the fact that you are doing this:)

Think of this as a practice... and when you head out, to do this run again, you will do it!

If it were me, I'd tke an extra rest day and just repeat that run when it's a bit cooler. Just chalk it up to experience. 👍

Well done you ran for twenty minutes.

Run preparation is often overlooked, especially by new runners.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

On top of that there are climatic and, at present, social influences, which we can only control by acknowledging them and adjusting our demands of our body and the expectations of our minds.

Have a rest day, relax and repeat that run.

You can do this

Not a disaster. You ran for 20 mins. Just remember back to when a minute was a struggle. You are doing great!!!!

This was me last week (week 7 run 3). I think I started too fast and managed 20 minutes too. I took a couple of rest days and then repeated the run. I went really slow and it turned out to be one of my favourite runs of the programme so far. Don’t be disheartened, just take some rest days and repeat. Slowly. Good luck 🙂
