Big ol’ fat rain...

Well that was......refreshing? W7r3 done.

When I set off there was a “light shower” by the time I was done, I’d run through every kind of rain there is..... “Little bitty stingin' rain, and big ol' fat rain, rain that flew in sideways, and sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath. “... well all the kinds according to Forest Gump (I bloody hate that film lol)

I’m not sure if I’m ready to move on or not.... I’ve now managed to complete all four 25 minute runs with no need to repeat any, however up to this point I’ve had to repeat weeks 4 and 5, 4 times each, in order to move to the next stage... I’m worried if I jump to week 8, adding on the extra 3 minutes may be too much and if I don’t manage to do it it’ll knock my confidence. What should I do?

Here’s a beautiful picture of me during my 5 minute cool down walk during the “big old fat rain”

Given you’ve completed all the 25min runs, I think you could give run 1 of week 8 a go and see how you find it! You may well surprise yourself and if worst comes to worst you can go back and repeat a few week 7 runs again. 🏃🏼‍♀️

Go on to week 8, you will do it no problem. Keep doing what your doing, refuse to stop and you will be fine 💪🏻

Well done so far!

Well done Hattie, you smashed it !

And I would say definitely no need to repeat , you have just run 25 minutes 4 times !

Why do it again, just add 3 minutes and you have nailed the next run !

I know you can do it 👍

Hi Hattie...OMG....that WAS a soggy one...bless you. Good on yer for getting out there, you're ACE. I get where you're coming from...I repeated some weeks, prob abt same weeks as yourself. I needed to feel comfortable and wasn't worried at the time about repeating weeks again. You're nearly at graduation point🏆🏆....do you feel under pressure to "get there" ??? How has week 7 been for you?? Have you found the runs easy....or has each run been a "marathon"??? Give W8R1 a go and base your decision on how that goes maybe?? I've got W7R2 tomorrow, I managed the first one, can't say it was "easy" ...but then can't say any of the runs have been easy🤣😂🤣. I'm going to see how my other 2runs go and decide if I need to repeat...or might even intersperse with the 10 min interval runs.

I've got a good feeling you CAN do W8R1.. 💪💪😁😁. Go girl. 👏👏🏃‍♀️🙋

I realllly feel pressure to get there, but it’s only me putting that pressure on no one else. Only a couple of people in my life know I’ve been working my way through this program, I didn’t want to tell every man and his dog invade I failed. I’m so proud of myself for getting this far, it’s hard not to share it with people.... I guess that’s where u guys come in :)

Hattie. I'm in exactly the same head space...and I know I'm putting pressure on myself too. The fact is what you've achieved already is MASSIVE....and I get where you're coming from....don't want to fail. We CAN'T fail...were out there running/jogging/shuffling...whatever you want to call it😁😁. Try the run....see what the outcomes like....we can do whatever we NEED to do to help our journey. If I need to take a step back, so be it, ....we won't know till we try hey. I guess all this depends on what your goals are....to run for 30 mins...at some point, or to push yourself (gently) to achieve the 30 mins in the allotted weeks???? Your decision, no one else's.

Go for it....see what happens...or take a couple of rest days and then have a go.

Good luck honey...we're all with you👍👍👍🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🙋🙋

I am in total awe! So impressed. (+Love the photographic proof btw.) You did that in a storm. An official storm - with a name. Looks like it was caning it down. That’s massive. Surely the sign of a real runner. Meanwhile, I’ve checked the forecast and I’m staying indoors until Tuesday when I tackle w7r3 - focusing on rest and zoom yoga (aka cross training, which makes me feel a little less cowardly). I’m not yet at a stage to take on hardcore weather like you have.

And then you say you’re not ready for w8? it doesn’t compute (in my mind). To me, you are already up there with the serious beasts, HattieC!!

I agree with LauraR.

😉

hehe I certainly looked like beast after today’s run lol. It looked like I’d hopped in the shower finally clothes when I came in. I don’t mind a bit of rain, it cools you down but today was a bit much hehe

Oh, Hattie! You got every kind of rain for your run today. Well done! 👏👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️👍

If you can persevere through that, you can tackle anything! Why repeat runs that you can do? Been there, done that! Onwards and upwards. Take the next run slowly. Believe in the programme! You’re ready for Week 8. Go, girl! 😀

Thanks lovely. I guess all I can do is give it a go and see where I get to lol. Hopefully the weather will be a smidge brighter on Monday 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Week 8 look out HattieCooke is on her way....it won’t know what’s hit it 👊🏃‍♀️ loving the description of every type of rain ☔️ 😂, you’ll complete week 8 no problem, you won’t even notice that 3 mins....trust me, the plan works 👍

Now that’s determination- week 8 will be no problem after facing that rain!

Hattie you can definitely smash week 8. Remember you recently went from 20 to 25 minutes so you can definitely increase your runs by 3 minutes. Go on - you know you want to!!

I hope you were able to follow that with a long hot soak in bath or shower and a mug of something warming.

Well done - if you can brave that weather and kick it’s butt you can definitely master Week 8. Go for it after a day or two of rest. Seriously - well flipping done 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

This made me smile, I constantly seem to catch the rain. Well done you are doing brilliantly, even in the big ol’ fat rain.

Wear a baseball cap next time it rains.

I do.

It makes a huge difference.

Still slow mind!

and just carry on another 3 minutes!

I love your photos HattieCooke !

And of course you can manage Week 8, and Week 9, come to that :) By the time you're at this stage of Couch25K, a lot of the challenge is mental, not physical. Maybe try reframing things: it's not "another three minutes on top of 25 minutes" it's "hey, I can run for three minutes, no problem, it's nothing compared to running 25 minutes and I know I can do that."

Happy running!
