W6R3 and an unexpected soaking!

I should be under a nice hot shower right now, but instead I'm sitting in my underwear on a bin liner on the sofa, my running gear dripping on the mat in the hall, not even feeling the discomfort because I'm so chuffed that I ran for 25 minutes non-stop! It was slooooow but I made it without stopping, and that's the main thing for now! AND because the end of the 25 minutes took me and my neighbour/ running buddy a long way from the gate of the park where we run, we had a 15 minute walk home (only 5 minutes in torrential rain - but that was enough to get soaked!) so what with the warm-up walk as well, we were out for 45 minutes and in that time covered 5.1 k, so even if I don't manage to run the full distance at the fabled park run on 22 December (the 'I'll-show-my-brother' run) I know I'll be able to do it in at most 45 minutes, which is probably half the speed he expects me to do it in. So, on that happy (and damp) note, I'm off to put on some warm dry clothes!

Stay warm and dry and keep running! :-)

That is fabulous - worth getting soaked for!

Thank you! I tend to get really hot, so the rain cooled me down!

Excellent! As usual I am hit on your heels: Saturday or Sunday for me. Will probably still be wet & windy. So chuffed for you 👍

Thanks! You're doing well, too! I'm sure you'll have no trouble with 25 minutes! And next week (7! Can hardly believe it!) it's 25 minutes each time, so we'll be doing the same. My back ached for a while after I finished - first time my back's hurt, but it soon stopped and now I'm just feeling a nice glow from the hot chocolate I've had (with a shot of chocolate liqueur in to liven it up a bit!) Perfect evening. Good luck with your 3rd run of the week!

Sounds like the soaking was worth it.

What's a little rain to a committed runner!

Hope you are dry now.. well done and slow and steady as you head onwards!

PS

Why a bin liner and not a towel? )

Towel would have soaked through onto my sofa - which is faux suede. Bin liner keeps it dry! :-)

Well, we also had fun getting unfit and out of shape I guess! The important thing is you’re doing it now.
