Wk5Run 3 done despite some persistent Gremlins👿👹

Delighted to have achieved this and feeling just fine 👌legs a bit wobbly as I finished 😂

The gremlins pointed out that it wasn’t the best morning for it , very windy overnight, good chance of getting soaked, the bed was toasty warm , there was always tomorrow and I had made a playlist to keep me motivated which I was sure to mess up . ( previous history with the phone techs bits )

I decided I could cope with the south westerly even though my route is exposed , it would be bracing and exhilarating 🙄 and as there was no rain yet I got myself out .

Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits For my five minute walk whilst I talked myself into this . They say I can do it , others before me have , so I can ! 🥴

20 minute run playlist -

Take it Easy - The Eagles I needed to slow down and take it easy at the conversational pace .

Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen By the end of this track I was nearly 9 minutes in so I ‘rolled down the window and let the wind blow back my hair’ ( metaphorically speaking anyway😉) Feeling good , remembering to keep it steady ,3 tracks to go

Suspicious Minds - Elvis. By the time Elvis had told me he ‘loved me too much baby ‘ an amazing amount of times at the end of this track I had run 13.5 minutes . This felt incredible as five weeks ago my chest was bursting running 60 seconds . The wind was pretty wild at this point but hey 🤷🏼‍♀️ Elvis loved me .

Uptown Girl - Billy Joel another 3 minute track and I reminded myself I could run 3 minutes although the legs were feeling it a bit .

Crocodile Rock - Elton John 😂😂 pure nostalgia whisked me back to Friday nights at the local youth club . By the time I’d finished reminiscing it was finished and I had run 20 minutes 🎉🎉 how on earth 🤷🏼‍♀️

The Way it Is - Bruce Hornsby and the Range for my walk home . Lovely Bruce tinkling away on his Steinway . I was actually a bit far from home so played him twice as he was worth it 👍

In summary I am so pleased that this programme works so well that if you just follow it you can achieve these milestones . I would be happy just being able to do 20 minutes .

It is addictive though isn’t it ? So onwards and upwards ! It’s a bit like all those contestants on Masterchef , the more they do the more they want to stay 😂

I am chuffed to bits that this playlist worked so beautifully , it was a great distraction and kept me motivated .

The app keeps cutting out on me and for this run I felt I needed all the help I could get so although I miss both Jo and Laura this really worked for me and I think I’ll do it for all the continuous runs .

I know lots of people are very adept at doing this anyway but I’m chuffed as the tech bits have tripped me up a fair bit . At least faffing about making a playlist at home is better than faffing about whilst trying to complete a run .

It is now blowing a gale with horizontal rain Happy Days ! 🍂🍂

Well done for completing week 5 run 3 .

A milestone run !

You will be smiling all day now 😬

Be careful with week 6 run 1 and 2 as going back to intervals catches people out !

Oh, and just so you know, the addiction only gets stronger 😂

Thank you ! Yes I see how wk 6 could catch you unawares after the euphoria of wk5 R3.

And yes just been out with the dog , got soaked, but smile still in place 😂👌

Well done on conquering those gremlins and achieving 5:3. That’s one heck of a playlist 😎

Thank you ! Yes I’m taking a firm hand with the gremlins !

It definitely helps to take a few legends on your run with you 🎧 🏃🏻‍♀️

Brilliant to read this - you squashed those gremlins good! Such an awesome feeling getting this run under your belt 🌟 Congrats!

Thank you , yes it is . Apart from actually enjoying the run I’m fascinated with the shifting thought processes too. From ‘this is ridiculous I can’t possibly be able to do that ‘ as to ‘yes it appears I will be able to do this because others have had the same doubts and done it so I will ! ‘

The forum is a godsend I can’t imagine doing this without It 🙂🙏

Love this post and well done competing the run. Great music choices and I'm glad you kept those gremlins at bay! I just wanted to ask you a quick question as w5r3 is my next run. How did you feel doing it after the week's previous two runs? I know people say not to overtook it or become anxious about it but I like to be prepared so views on what to expect are always helpful 🙂

Hey ! Well done you too for reaching this stage.

In terms of the run I think everyone’s experience will be different going into it and also doing it .

I found the previous two runs ok but prior to doing them I was as jittery about those too.

I felt a bit of pressure in R2 And knew I was going too fast ( not fast at all in the real running world ) but I felt I was running towards ‘ finishing ‘ and not actually just running ‘in the moment’.

I think because I’m really enjoying the programme that each run has adopted a greater sense of importance Because I want to keep going . So the night before felt like I had an exam the next day or a driving test . That sort of level which I know is daft 😂

Yesterday I just started reading lots of celebratory Wk5 R3 posts to get it into perspective . Lots of people exactly like me doing it despite the same doubts and anxieties That I was having .

Also I mulled it over and made the decision to make a playlist that would see me through and ditched both the app and podcast.

It was perfect and loaded with distraction , 5 tracks that I liked stopping and starting rather than music I didn’t know or didn’t mean anything to me .

I also made sure the tracks would motivate but not be all out rock anthems and encourage speed. 😂

The tracks all generated different memories which stopped me wondering when Jo or Laura was going to tell me it was half time etc.

I knew my time from the tracks but again I wasn’t dwelling on it .

I knew I was tiring towards the end but it never felt not ‘doable’

The forum and the playlist were a godsend , kept me steady .

I really hope I can continue without any mishaps I’m so enjoying it .

Good luck with your run and stay positive 👌😀

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I like the idea of using the playlist instead of the app. I still can't decide if the reminders about how much time has passed help or hinder lol so I might give it a go. I'll see how I feel on the day.

Yes, there have been a lot of people writing that they've completed the third run and it's so lovely as you can hear the achievement and positivity in their posts.

I did the second run today and felt I still had some in the tank at the end. I suppose the psychology of not having a break in the middle will be the interesting stage for me. You're quite right in that I'm sure everyone approaches it and manages it differently.

Best of luck with week 6 😁
