A Wet 5k but i beat the Gremlins

Well, the gremlins were busy this morning !

oh, you don't want to run now, its raining and it's darker than it was a few weeks ago, so when i made my cup of tea at 5:45 i went back to bed !

within 10 minutes i was feeling guilty so drank my tea , smashed the gremlin over the head with my running shoes and fed him to the cat πŸ˜‚

off i went around 06:45

yes, it was raining , my first run in the rain since before graduation but i was now feeling positive on my warm up walk .

the plan was just to complete another 5K, just consolidating on what i have done since graduation .

Pink floyd on the playlist will help !

so, cool and wet, off we go !

i definitely had the toxic 10 today! if anything maybe toxic 12 or 13 !

but then settled down to what was a comfortable pace , my pace feels naturally better now and i realise it's similar to my last run, 15 minutes in 'Echoes' comes on my playlist , its a 24 minute track so i think ok, i just listen to this and then i will be at my 5K 😬

as it happened , i hit 5K before the track had finished and to my surprise it was the same pace as the last one , i'll take that as i know i could have gone quicker had i wanted too.

so glad i beat that gremlin this morning 😬😈

Another great run thereπŸ‘ I'm looking forward to running in the rain again to be honest. Keep managing to miss it now for quite a number of weeks. Not looking forward to piles of slippery leaves though come the autumn so will have to pick my venues wisely methinks πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€

Thanks, Hmm.... yes hadn't thought of the autumn leaves 😐

Managed to come a cropper a few times albeit walking and resulted in yet other slipped discs in my back. So super wary of it now. Come the winter and ice I may resort to running on grass with cross country spikes as I really don't want to go down the treadmill route?

Instructor57 profile image

OUCH !

hmm.... No, I wouldn't want to use a treadmill either !

Well done Ian!

I'm looking forward to running in the rain again πŸ™Š I've really struggled in the heat πŸ₯΅

The cat is being well fed these days too 🐈

Yes, I enjoyed it 😁

And the cat is now sleeping off her breakfast πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Ί

Well done! You're rattling out the 5km runs now 😁

The Gremlins are out in force today though - let's say the snooze button was deployed once or twice πŸ’€πŸ›Œ

Bright sun and a cool 18 degrees here when I eventually forced myself out.

Managed 5k in 40 seconds less than last week in my new shoes 😁

Haha excellent !

Nice to improve with new shoes πŸ˜πŸ‘

Fab run and pace! My πŸ‘Ί is saying the same things about the rain but I’ll soon hit him over the head and feed him to the cat too! πŸ’ͺ

Haha, nice one πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Ί

Well done, Ian! πŸ‘πŸ‘ Good, solid run and knowing you could go faster. Although I would be ecstatic if I ever achieved that pace πŸ˜€.

I had a half-formed thought about the you-don’t-want-to-get-up gremlin; but I got up quickly and dived into the shower before he had a chance to materialise! It was pretty dark at 4.30, but not raining and the air quality was pretty good, too.

Good to see you get another 5K! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Any twinges from your injury?

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to Jools2020

Thanks Jools , the run was fine ,

I'm not really aware of any problem when I'm running now, I still have a little discomfort after the run but the physio said that's to be expected.

I think my pace is at its optimum at the moment, so I'm not going to try and push it further.

I am looking to increase distance though with ju ju,'s magic 10 plan/group 😬

Jools2020 profile image
Jools2020Graduate in reply to Instructor57

Sounds like a plan. I was looking at that, but then I went and ran for an hour so I kind of ruined it πŸ™„

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to Jools2020

Not really, you can do distance not time !

Jools2020 profile image
Jools2020Graduate in reply to Instructor57

That’s true - but for the time being I’ve taken most of my focus away from distance as I was finding it too much. I could always decide to do it later πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to Jools2020

Yes of course !

You can do it anytime if you wanted , you can get the plan and do it on your own , in fact, that was my initial thought but last night decided to ask to join the group 😁

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to Jools2020

The reason I am doing it is actually to improve my 5k time πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Jools2020 profile image
Jools2020Graduate in reply to Instructor57

It’s better to do it within a group if you can! And I’m sure it won’t be long for you to improve your 5K once your injury is fully healed πŸ˜€πŸ‘

Sounds like a great run, despite the rain

Great pace for the 5k too!

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to Roxdog

Thank you !

It was fun (I think πŸ˜‚)

Roxdog profile image
RoxdogGraduate in reply to Instructor57

Yes, the toxic ten is not fun! Thoughts in first few minutes;

Why am I doing this?

I can't run

I am not a runner

Why am I doing this?

I might just go home

And then, like magic everything suddenly feels great! πŸ˜‚

That just about sums it up ! πŸ˜‚
