Before lockdown, after over a year of hospital appointments to check my lungs worked properly, my fitness was quite shoddy, as I’d not been pushing myself after being told to ‘be careful’ until they knew everything was ok.... so although I’m 22, in a healthy BMI range and fairly active (walk everywhere, dance regularly etc), consistently completing a 30min run is major for me today! (I am ok by the way, just can only use 70% of my lung capacity due to a dodgy rib cage)
At 30mins I’d covered 3km, but I like to keep things slow so I know i finish. So I carried on, reaching 38mins and 4km!
I’ve realised that time isn’t my best way to work, as I go slower than I need to in order to complete the time. So I’m going to focus on completing 4km for the next week or two, then up it to 4.5km before completing a 5km for Race for Life at the end of the month
P.S. If you’re a week 1 person, searching this forum frantically to work out how the hell this is possible, it just is. Week 1/2/3/4/5/6 (lol) were SO hard for me but you’ve just got to believe!!!
